Antique, exterior door hinges salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each hinge is made of solid, heavy, thick, cast iron and has an acorn-shaped finial on each end. Originally. The hinges were coated with a black enamel paint, however, much of the paint wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. About Lift-off Hinges: Each hinge consists of 2 halves. Which are connected in the center by their"knuckles" The knuckle of one half has a pin and the other has a mortise. The knuckle with the mortise sits on top of the knuckle with a pin; gravity holds it in place. To separate the halves, you simply"lift off" the half, which is sitting atop the other half. Once installed, these these hinges will allow you to simply lift your door off of the jamb; no need to remove the hinges; no tools or spending time. At the point of salvage. The hinges were painted white and dirty. Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished the hinges to the best of our ability. We cleaned them years ago, and since then, they've rusted a bit, which enhances their distressed look.
