Antique Brass Kettle with Fixed Cast Iron Handle For your consideration. Is this nicely done antique brass kettle. The handle is made of cast iron. I only did a wipe down of the kettle. Did not try to do an extensive cleaning of the kettle. Appears to be from the 1800's, probably mid-century to 1870s. The kettle is in great condition. The cast iron handle is attached to the kettle with copper jointing. I see no maker markings. The kettle measures by 11.5" wide. And 5.75" tall(to top of kettle) 13" tall(to top of handle) Note the indented ring that goes around the kettle about 1/2" below the rim. I have a larger kettle with a ladle that matches up with this one, that is also posted in our store. There is little to no corrosion of the brass on either piece. Same with the cast iron. Vintage Cast Iron Pot with Brass Lid Handle-Fire Starter with Pumice Stone Wand
Offered is this neat vintage fire starter for your hearth. About 8 1/2 inches tall and about 8 inches at widest point. It is cast iron and has a cast iron lid with a solid brass knob. The pumice stone wand is 11 1/4 inches long and has a ovoid pumice stone on one end and a brass knob(painted black) on the other end. The lid has a notch so you can close the lid to put out the wand when finished starting your fire. This one was clearly used, as the pot has soot on the inside, an odor of kerosene and the rod on the wand is bent from overheating. In very good condition the pot has no visible damage or cracks. But it does have some surface dirt and oxidation that needs a good cleaning. I wiped off years of surface dust but didn't delve deeper. The pumice stone on the wand has some cracks but doesn't seem to be in danger of coming apart. ... moreVery heavy but it should fit in a large fixed rate priority package. This is a beautiful Griswold round cast iron griddle#10. Milling marks are still present on the cooking surface. Which leads me to believe that it has had little if any use. The griddle was manufactured by the Griswold Manufacturing Company between 1925 and 1940. The pan measures just under 16" to the end of the handle. It is 12" in diameter(measured at the bottom edge) And about 5/8" tall. The cooking surface is about 11-1/2" in diameter. The cooking surface is near-perfect. There are just a few pinpricks here and there which in no way detract from this pan- I mention them only in the interest of being fanatically thorough. Vintage / Antique HEAVY Cast Iron Kettle, with Handle and Raised Bottom $10
This is an old- vintage/ antique cast iron kettle- soup or stew pot. I haven't used it for at least a year. So it needs a new home. It does have some rust. But I used it that way to cook in, on my kitchen wood stove- and it works fine. Could also be used outside over and open fire- camping, hunting.It could be'blackened' if you want to use it for display, but I don't know of anything that is food safe to do that. There are no holes in it. As you can see from the pictures. There is a handle, and the center of the bottom is raised up so as not to burn food. Not like the spider pans on legs, but an elevated ring of cast iron. Believe that these were called'dutch ovens. Measures 11 inches across- holds about a gallon. This is for an antique sad iron that has NO marking at all as to who made it though the sad may at one time have had such cast into the top. The top is quite eroded with rust likely from being upside down in a muddy cellar for years but the bottom is quite smooth and nice. There was some writing cast into the top but it is not readable now. The handle carries the patents dates of Dec. 10. 01 and Mar. 26, 12. This has a simple latch mechanism and the wood handle has an interesting shape. This particular sad has a sloped front I understand that it was designed for pressing sleeves and collars as you could exert more force over a smaller area. Especially when ironing starched collars. This is 6 1/8" long and 5" high and is 2 7/8" wide. Will combine any of the trivets with any of the irons. The last photo is of the sad irons and trivets I am listing at this time. ANTIQUE CAST IRON AND WOOD MEAT GRINDER HANDLE, PAT'D. AUG.27,1901
This handle is 9" long. And was made in Canada. At least, it was patented in Canada. That is what it says on the handle, PAT'D IN CANADA AUG. 27, 01. It has a wooden handle that spins for easy turning. The wood is very smooth, and isn't cracked or chipped. I would never worry about getting a splinter off this handle. The wood has been oiled, hardened and smoothed by the many hands that have turned the handle to grind meat for Sunday meatloaf dinner. I don't think the wood has never been painted. The joint, where the handle attaches to the grinder has a triangle, where they connect. The triangle is a half inch on each of the three sides. This handle looks like it has been used a few times. I wish it could talk and tell me how it ended up in southern California from Canada.
