This is a smaller antique turned wood handle corkscrew w/ cast iron worm This is a smaller size corkscrew. The top is turned wood. The worm is a bit different. As you can see the length is different and I believe the metal is cast iron. I am not absolutlely certain of that so please look at the photos. I assume collectors’ will know. And will probably know the age. I am assuming 1800s. Size: Length of wooden handle is approx 2 3/4ths inches. Approx width of the handle at the widest point is 3/4ths of an inch. The length of the worm is approx 2 7/8ths inches measuring just below the handle. However. The worm is looped in the middle of the handle, so measuring from the top, the length is approx 3 ½ inches. For Sale is I guess a stove grate shaker and/or lifter handle. Used for coal or wood stove. The handle looks to be a shaker and/or lifter handle and in good condition. Seems to be a pretty good size handle compared to many of them. The handle on the front side says"DRAW THE GRATE SLIDE OUT WHILE SHAKING THE GRATE" and the backside has the word"OAK" and in another place it has the word"NEUTIPE" or something very similar. The handle looks to have been chrome plated or something similar when it was made. Also it seems as if over time a little of the plating has came off in a couple very small areas and a little of rust has came through and it also looks as if someone in the past has put a clear coat over the entire handle to preserve it.
