DESCRIPTION: Here is a hard to identify Cast Iron piece made by G.W.S. MFG. CO.Victorian era-probably for the hearth-fireplace-for placement of tools. Or to catch ashes? It is two pieces that fit together. The bottom is a tray that is angled with 2 legs. The cover also has 2 legs and fits onto the tray. There are 5 recessed loops or stops on the top section. Small handles on sides of top piece. There is also a small post in the top center for attaching a handle or shaft at one time. A puzzlement as to the use of this piece. It measures 11" wide x 3 3/4"x 2" Bottom tray has a"30" marked on the bottom. And the top section has a"40" marked on it. Bot CONDITION: Much of original black paint is gone from the top surfaces. Large 29"x23"Antique Cast Iron Floor Grate Register Victorian Steam Punk Ornate
This is a large original cast iron floor grate. I would say from the Victorian era. This ornate grate weighs approximately 35#s. There are no cracks or breaks to the grate. And it seems to have the majority of it's original black paint. There is minimal surface rust showing throughout the piece. The outside measurements of the grate are 28-3/4" long, 22-3/4" wide and a whopping 5/8" thick! The inside lip measures 26-1/4" long, 20-1/4" wide. Definitely a statement piece for your home, or would make a beautiful, one of a kind table top. I will ship this free anywhere in the Lower 48 United States.

The grate remains to cover the hole, but it gets a really cool look. Just think how great these would look in your room. There is some minor oxidation and signs of wear from use to this piece, however this could be easily remedied. Nice old cast iron wall register with no cracks or breaks. It measures 13 3/4" by 9 3/4" by 1 3/4" thick. It sticks out from the wall 5/8" I took it all apart. Cleaned it and gave it a coat of flat black paint to keep it from rusting.

It has not been cleaned and is covered in rust and old paint, but there is nothing broken and nothing that a wire brush, elbow grease and an anti rust primer can't fix.
