A vintage Baldwin Brass Metal Forgers. Reading PA. The original lock that was mounted has been changed and another added. It was a pretty common practice if you needed a part fast that you didn't have in stock. Measurements are; Rim Lock body is 6" long, 4" Wide, 7/8" deep. The keeper is 1" deep at the front and 7/8" deep on the other three sides. The Plate is 6 1/4" Long, 4" Long. PLEASE NOTICE Scratches on knob. The Display is 12" High, 14" Wide, 5 1/2" Wide at the base. The main body is 1 3/4" wide. This came out of a shop that has been closed for many years, that handled Baldwin and Virginia Metal Crafters, both excellent companies that are no longer with us. Two handsome doorknobs with fancy rosette, cute keyhole plate, and one working(newer) key. The antique rim lock was manufactured in the late 19th century by Russell& Erwin and has their logo on both sides. Cast iron. It's designed to be mounted on the face of your door(and can be mounted on the left or right hand- just ask us how to reverse them) There is a locking night-latch on the top; the keeper is new and a great match. This rim lock is wonderfully ornate on both sides, with the fancy logo at the center and rows of details around the sides. Eastlake Ornate Brass and Iron Rim Lock Door Hardware, PYE , 1869
Eastlake Style Door Hardware. Ornate Brass and Iron. Marked PYE Co. Patent March 30. 1869. This has knobs, back plate for door, but unfortunately no keeper. The switch lock functions and the knobs turned easily when it was put together. I think the knobs are pottery as they are not magnetic. They have some grooves and flaws in the manufacturing of them. The Rim lock is 3 3/8 inches wide, 4 5/8 high and 13/16 deep on the latch side, 5/8 inches on the other. The latch side phlanges out. This does have areas of paint and maybe some varnish on it. The back plate for the door has been painted brown. It is 2 1/8 inches square. Unfortunately there is not a key for it or the keeper. I believe that a keeper could be found here on Ebay.

We have included a key that works, but it takes some jiggling. you may need a better key if you are gonna use it all the time- once again, the key works, but it is not easy to use, this is not because of the locking mechanism, this is because it is really not the right key, but it sorta works. The keeper matches correctly. There is a solid knob on one side and a ring handle on the other. Cool look. The ... morebummer is that at some point in this lock's life. Someone taped it together with strapping tape and there is goo on the brass. Maybe a few scratches too- not deep, but makes it not perfect. The rim lock part is reversible for left hand or right hand doors. It measures 4-5/8" tall x 3-3/4" wide. The key and knob are lined up vertically. A lot of 4 locks. First is marked MADE IN ENGLAND SECURE 2 LEVER. Very solidly built brass. Flush mount for china cabinet or other application. It is 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" Takes a skeleton barrel key. No key found. Second is marked PAT'D MAR. 24. 1868. On the other side. Marked 4 and 597. Also solidly built brass. Open mortise for a desk or drawer application. It is 2 3/8" x 1 3/4" with a 1/2" face plate. Takes a flat key not found. Both of these are in really excellent condition with old patina. The other two are basic brass plated rim locks not too old and unmarked. These are without catches for the jamb side. The first two are. Salvaged Edwardian Pattern Rim Lock - Brass Door Handle - Cast Keep
Here for auction is an attractively shaped Edwardian pattern salvaged rim lock. Brass handle with a cast steel keep. The rim lock, handle and keep are in good condition and in full working order. This rim lock has a decorative shaped case with a thumb latch. And can be used on the left or right side of a door. There is a round brass disk which shows the words PALACE MOTION and in the centre are the images of two metal working calipers. I have polished up the show brass retaining it aged appearance. The original brass knobs have some knocks in them(please see photographs) But this is to be expected in items of such age. The handles are fixed to the steel spindle with two grub screws. The later cast steel keep compliments the lock. The lock measures approximately 112 mm(3 3/8" high and 120 mm(4 3/4" wide. Large antique door rim lock in brass with porcelain and brass knobs- no key- This item is a heavy duty antique mortice lock in brass. It weighs 1.2Kg including Knobs. Dimensions = 13cm Height x 10cm Width x 4.5cm Thick/ Catch Flange x 3cm Thick/ Mortice Flange Good condition for age with nice patina. But if preferred would clean up nicely. The porcelain knob is in good condition but needs a retaining bolt. I haven't looked into it. But I would guess a good locksmith could make up a replacement key. The lock has a smooth action when the knobs are turned and the catch releases very nicely. The only thing I can tell you about the history of this item is that I recently bought it in Bolivia. Salvaged 1920's-1930's Brass Door Handle with Brass Back Plate - for rim lock
Here for auction is a 1920's-30's brass. And steel door handle set, in good usable condition. This door handle set is suitable for use with a traditional rim lock. And is in good condition for its age, having some age related small knocks and scratches, but these are minor. One of the knobs is permanently fixed to the steel spindle and the other knob fits onto the other end and is secured with a grub screw. There is a decorative ribbed pattern to outside diameter of each knob. Originally the brass knob would have screwed onto the end of the spindle but because of wear it now only slides on. But says in place well once the grub screw in secured. The later round back plate fits over the end one of the knobs. Each knob measures approximately 50 mm(2" deep. And 58 mm(2 1/4" in diameter and the round back plate is 50 mm(2" ... morein diameter. ANTIQUE RECLAIMED BRASS DOOR RIM LOCK RIMLOCK - AS IS
The item for sale is a reclaimed brass rim lock which due to its age and faults is being sold as seen so please study the photos as they form part of the description- NO Returns on this one. There is some paint loss/oxidisation/white paint etc as per the photos and has wear associated with age and use. The lock is 88mm tall externally and 150mm wide- the keyhole is 20mm tall- all measurements approx. There is no key.The guide that the handle spindle looks to be missing,a screw missing from the front?the mechanism needs a good clean and lube. I have supplied something that looks similar but is not the correct one which may or not work and will need cutting down considerably if it is to work- the same with the keep as it is not the right one. Antique Cast Iron "Eagle" Rim Lock Door Latch w/Brass Throw Bolts Good+Condition
This unit could be better or worse than Good Plus condition. I don't know the rating standards, but this lock would work fine as a(no door knob or latch) bolt lock with the right key. As far as the missing door knob and latch goes, they're not here so this could render this gem as useless, don't know. No cracks or breaks to the cast iron. But as you can see by the pics the key hole has been sawed(or torched) larger and there's that cut-out spot on the corner of the rear backing plate, I don't know what that's all about.a really bad lock pick job? 5 inches high X 3-3/4 inches wide and 5/8 inch thick for the main body(not counting the thickness of the eagle) and the jam side face plate is thicker at about 15/16 inch. It weighs a hefty 1 lb. 1 oz. I do think this is a nice piece of. Vintage Original Brass Screen Door Knob and rim lock Latch Handle Set 1892
Up for auction is an original vintage screen door knob and rim lock set. This beautiful lock set has a fine patina with a warm vintage paint covering some of it. Dated June 21. 1892 on the back of the lock. This set includes the lock latch piece. The back plate and a knob- handle combination with it's spindle. There is no catch included with this set. The latch piece also has a lock on it opperated from the inside only. The lock measures 3 1/8" x 2" The back plate measures 4" x 1 1/2" The handle measures 1 3/4" long-and the knob measures 1 3/4" in diameter Condition: This set is in great working condition and has a nice antique look to it. Salvaged Edwardian Pattern Rim Lock - Brass Door Handle - Cast Steel Keep
Period Rim Lock& Handle. Here for auction is a salvaged traditional Edwardian(or later) pattern thumb rim lock. Brass handle and cast steel keep, which are in good working condition. The rim lock has an attractive oblong case with a spring loaded latch and thumb dead bolt actions. I have polished the exposed brass retaining its aged appearance. The brass handle dates from about the same period as the lock. With each knob fitting onto the ends of the spindle and are secured with grub screws. The knobs have some knocks to them but are not that noticeable. The later cast steel keep compliments the lock. The rim lock measures approximately 128 mm(5“ wide. 115 mm(4 1/2“ high.
