2 PRIMITIVE LARGE FANCY BLACKSMITH MADE BARN DOOR HINGES ((MUST SEE))
Up for auction we have 2 outstanding fancy primitive blacksmith made barn door mounting hinges! Lets start with the measurements. The hinges differ slightly in length, the longest hinge measure 41 inches in length, the other hinge measures 40 inches in length. The end holes where the hinges sat on the mounting pintils measure 5/8ths of an inch, inside diameter. The 3 main mounting holes on each hinge measure 7/16ths. The width at the hinges widest point measures 2 inches. The thickness of the hinges measures about 7/16 ths. at the mounting pintil end and about a 1/4 inch thick near the hooked end.these hinges are heavy duty! The stand alone weight of both hinges is 12 lbs. 2 ozs.As you can see from the photos the iron is pitted from age, I cleaned these hinges with a wire brush and then clear sprayed the hinges with enamel. Antique Barn Door 13" Strap Hinges Early Hardware w/Hammered 3" Screws Stanley?
Here I have 2 matching steel 13" long barn door strap hinges with hand hammered 3" bolts in good solid clean condition! I believe they may be Stanley but I could not find any marks to confirm but they are very heavy duty hinges! The widest part is 2.5" and they taper down to 1 5/8" They may have been painted black at one point because there are a few traces of old paint but not much at all. Antique Barn Hinges - 4 Offset Heavy Duty 7x10 in
These hinges measure 7 1/4 inches tall at the hinge barrel by 2 3/8 inches wide across the flat(3 1/8 inches including the barrel) the strap is 10 inches long by 3 inches at the barrel end. They are 1/8 inch thick. As shown in the first photograph. They open outward and the door would set back from the barrel by about 5/8 inch. They mount to the door frame with flat head screws and to the door with carriage bolts. The hinges came from an old barn that was torn down 30+ years ago. I intended to use them when rebuilding a large shed but could not when I decided to make the doors open inward. They have been wire brushed and treated with a rust neutralizer(leaving an attractive stippled finish) and are ready for paint. They all run smoothly. As the set weighs over 11 pounds. This auction is for a matching pair of Iron hinges. Each hinge is 14-1/2" long. The width where the two pieces of the hinge are pinned together is 6-1/2" Each Hinge weighs about 4 pounds and 11 ounces. Both hinges are stamped with"FM 381" on the rectangular side and"FM 382" on the triangular side. There is a logo mark that looks like a"U" in a box. These heavy duty hinges are used on barn doors and railroad box cars. The hinges have some surface rust and a few dings but are still very usable.

These are their"Reliable Hangers. Their"No. 2" hangers. Pat'd Nov. 19. 1901 and Dec. 8, 1903. The roller hangers are 11-1/2" long and are 5-1/2" wide at the widest point. The hangers have no rust pits. There are areas that have rust. But there is NO zero pitting. The hangers have, I'd estimate, at least 50% of their original black paint. The paint is all original. Scuff marks, pitting found to the metal, and these items appear to have been repainted at one time. We believe the larger piece is for a large door latch and the smaller piece to be a hinge. These hinges are architectural salvage from shop door of a building about to be razed. The are in working strong condition. They came off very large doors. The hinge strap length is 12 7/8" long and 2" wide and 3/8" thick. The hinge portion is 5 1/4" wide The horse shoe looking part is 7 3/16" long.
