It is made from a really nice wood with great original paint surface- the color can be described as putty or taupe or light grayish brown. It tends to look more blue in the photos but it is a really nice original paint that is mostly there and has little wear to that surface. It is really nicely made and was constructed with square nails- may be from the mid 1800s. It is just the way you love to find your folk art items- with a nice natural original patina achieved only through age and use. It is a nice small doll size cradle and would look greta with an old rag doll in it. Primitive Display of Antique Blacksmith Forged Iron Nails Tall to Very Small I didn’t have a lot of time to shop this week because of visiting relatives. But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! Here's one of my favorites this week- so simple and special. What I have is a made piece for display. I do not know who made it. But what they did is take a variety of antique, hand forged(blacksmith made) iron nails and pound them into a finished block of wood for display. The nails are pounded in, so you know- not just sitting in holes where you can take them out easily. What makes it so unique is that the nails vary from very tall to very small- the tallest being 5 1/2" with a 1/2" ... morehead and the smallest being 5/8" with about 1/8" head. The nails have a very dark patina from age, and show dark spots of surface rust all over too. The maker must have shellaced them for protection, as they have a semi-glossy appearance. The base is made from solid hard wood, and it measures 4 7/8" wide and 3 3/4" deep. The piece stands 7 7/8" tallest to the tallest nail at the center of the back. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. It's unsigned by the maker, so I do not know its history. The wood base shows minor wear, scratches and scraping. I'm showing a shallow nick at the back left side in photos 12& 13. I do think that's original to the making, though, as it is finished like the rest of the block. It weighs 1 1/4 lbs. It's dusty, espeically the block, and could use a good cleaning- I have not cleaned or messed with the as found patina in any way. Don'tcha wish they could talk? Vintage/Antique Wood Primitive/Rustic Step Stool~No Nails ~Décor~Photo Prop
You are bidding on an old stool that I bought in Santa Fe. New Mexico at an antique shop. I do not know any other history than that I bought it there about 10 years ago. The stool is made from wood and is constructed with no nails. It looks like it was painted at one time or possibly it was made from repurposed wood that had been painted at one time. Please refer to photos. The top of the stool measures 5 ½” by 11 ½” The legs flare out to about 7” at the bottom. It is 8 ¼” tall. The seat is about 1 ½” thick. It is very level. But has a bit of a wobble due to the joins being a bit worn. But you can sit on it with confidence. We used it in our décor as shelf to sit a basket on. But it could also be used as a photo prop or just a cute stool for a child. This weighs almost 3 pounds before packing so the shipping cost ... morewill reflect that. Antique Heavy Duty Set Horseshoe Barn Door Rollers w/ 8' Track Blacksmith Nails
A very nice piece this is an antique set of two heavy duty barn door rollers complete with it's original 8' track and 13 blacksmith made nails we pulled out of the barn when we took everything down. It is complete and ready to install but some of the nails need straightened and the one roller wheel has a broken flange and it will need to be replaced. This is very simple to do. Drill or grind off the one rivet head I am pointing two and the wheel just slips out. You will need another similar 3" wheel to take its place, I would think a 3" pulley bought here on Ebay or at a home improvement store will work perfect. I am listing this as a 24 hour auction starting at half the price of the others here on Ebay. If it doesnt sell I am going to replace the $8 wheel and it will sell for much more. It doesnt matter what it looks like ... morebecause it will never be seen when the door is on the track. This was in a 120 year old barn that was recently torn down and while it has a rusty patina on the track, the doors at one time were painted red then white as those colors are on the rollers. The nails are very brittle so be gentle straightening them out. You set the price on this one as it goes to the last bidder! We are selling an antique pine trunk/ chest in its original condition.This trunk dates to about 1870s and still in good condition.There are five large dovetail joints on all corners. The cast iron handles are in very good condition. The end board on one side is a solid 13" wide plank. The pine boards are all old growth wood. The bottom planks have a few cracks in them as the pictures show. There are normal age wear nicks and bumps and dings. The size is 34" long. 16 1/2" wide and 19 1/2" tall. The lock is gone. Antique hand made wood spikes and old rusted nails. 28 nails are right about 5" long and 1 is 3" long. The wood spikes range in size from 12" down to 3 3/4" As you can see from the pictures a few of the spikes splintered on the end and some were broken off but for the most part they are in good condition. Nails are rusty and dirty. These all were found in an old wood paint bucket from the late 1800's out of Pittsburgh Pa.
