I have a very nice antique letter mail slot with matching backplate for your consideration. This is in very nice condition with the hinge pins snug and pivot smoothly. this one would have typically been used on a front door of a residence or private business. All the parts are heavy cast brass manufactured by RH Co. Circa early 1900's. Some casting marks appear. See a pics for details. Beautiful coloring and patina on the exterior letter plate and to a lesser degree on the interior cover plate. There is a small drip of paint on the interior plate that I did not want to clean off and destroy the patina but if you want to polish them up it will clean off easily. Other wise you might want to leave as is. Bring some real character to your home or shop with this authentic vintage quality door hardware. From the late 1800's or so is this brass or bronze metal heavy duty door knocker with letters slot. This piece was salvaged off of an old Baltimore house that was about to be demolished. Antique mail slot vintage letter door hinged plate cast brass hardware
I have a nice pair of heavy cast red or yellow brass mail door slots for your consideration. These are early high quality manufacture from around 1910 or so. Pivoting hinged door springs are both strong and ready for reuse. Inside door opening is 1 5/16 x 5 1/4 inches. Out side measurements are 2 3/8 x 7 1/4 inches. Set screws are 6 5/16 ctr to ctr. across. Marked Russwin 22. You will need to find an inside square brass trim plate that will fit your cutout or fabricate something out of wood trim for the inside of the door and a couple standard thread set screws. Bought for a project and plans changed. Antique Mail Slot door with hinged cover. Measures 2 1/2" x 8 1/4" overall. Opening for slot: 1 1/2" x 5" Screw holes center to center: 1 11/16" x 7 3/8" Never polished it. This is the way I bought it at an antique store. Nice patina!
