Beautiful Antique Gothic Style Door Escutcheon: Bronze
We have offered this item before. But with what we think were not very good photos. This is an attempt to improve the showing. The gothic style heavy(approx. 2 3/4 lb. bronze door escutcheon is ready to be used with any fitting lock and doorknob. It has a light patina which we have purposely left as is since some people prefer it this way. It is approx. 14" in height, 3" in width, and stands out from the door approx. 1/2" The lock hole is approx. 4 inches from doorknob base(center to center. There are 4 holes for mounting. As can be seen, this was designed primarily as an outside escutcheon.

Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Oval Beaded Doorknob Plate w/Crown& Acanthus Motifs. Regal. Antique door escutcheon made sometime during the first half of the previous century. It's made of stamped steel, and has a lovely oval form with beaded trim and a crown motif above the knob collar and acanthus leaf motif below the keyhole. Originally. The escutcheon was was completely copper plated and finished with a black lacquer(Japanned" However, some of the lacquer and some of the copper wore off over the years, leaving the parts with a nice, distressed, finish. The plate has been cleaned of paint. Dirt, and build up, leaving some of the patina within the crevices and around the details to enhance the beauty of its design. The beauty of the plate is only equaled by its impeccable condition! There are no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, ... moregouges, or deep scratches. The details are sharp and crisp with no signs of wear. Oval beaded plates are extremely common. And we've sold hundreds over the years.
