Antique Gothic Style Door Escutcheon: Bronze
We have offered this item before. But with what we think were not very good photos. This is an attempt to improve the showing. The gothic style heavy(approx. 2 3/4 lb. bronze door escutcheon is ready to be used with any fitting lock and doorknob. It has a light patina which we have purposely left as is since some people prefer it this way. It is approx. 14" in height, 3" in width, and stands out from the door approx. 1/2" The lock hole is approx. 4 inches from doorknob base(center to center. There are 4 holes for mounting. As can be seen, this was designed primarily as an outside escutcheon.

Antique Brass Large Hand Cut key Hole Escutcheon
A nice antique brass key hole escutcheon that was salvaged from a blanket chest from the early/ mid 1800's. It retains its old patina is a darkened brass. This is a larger one measuring approx 1 5/8 by 1 3/8 inches. It has 4 holes and is attached using four small round head brass tacks. I still have the tacks if you want them but they need straitening.

Thomason badges We all know that there are a myriad of different badges that appear on Thomason corkscrews. And similarly there are many claims that any one Thomason is much older than another. Whilst it is often not possible to prove or disprove many of these claims. There is one simple test which can apply to certain badges which show the royal crest or coat of arms. When the Hanoverian kings came to the throne of England. They also retained their title to the Kingdom of Hanover. However. When King William IV died in 1837 he left no male heir and the Crown of England passed ... moreto his niece Victoria. As the title to the kingdom of Hanover could only pass down a male line. The Hanoverian title lapsed. Up until the death of William IV the Hanoverian connection was shown by a central escutcheon superimposed in the middle of the royal crest- after Victoria assumed the throne this was removed. If you look at the top right photo. The badge shows the central escutcheon. Definitely dating it to pre-1837. The lower example has no escutcheon meaning it is post 1837. I restored antique furniture many years ago and have some hardware left over. Each one measures about 4.75" from top to bottom and 0.75" wide at center. They are about 5/32" thick. Not sure if this is the matching escutcheon or not, but it came with the pulls so I am making this a three piece sale. These would be an exquisite finishing touch for your dresser, cabinet, or whatever the project is that you've been working on. The pulls are 4 1/2" wide and 2 6/8" high. It is found in good used condition and comes in the plastic bag it was found in, along with two mounting screws. This lock cover measures approximately 1" in diameter.
