These hinges came out of a house I lived in that was built in the early 1900s. Very solid and heavy. These hinges were used on the servant's saloon door to the kitchen. And swung both directions. Not sure, but I think they might be called Saloon Hinges. There was some work done to them, looks like a repair on the corner of one of the hinges. See picture number 8. Does not affect operation. Today I have a Sargent& Co. Of New Haven, Connecticutt, entry door lock set. There is the makers name and a patent date of Jan. 26, 1886 on the lock. It appears to be a brass plate with metal lock, I didn't clean so the original patina is there. Comes with everything in pictures, lock with face plate, escutcheon plate with two key holes- one covered by cover that swings to side, key hole plate, thumb turn for deadbolt, round plate for handle to pass thru, two washers, door handle with both knobs matching, and all original screws for mounting. I do not have the key. It may be hard to see, but all brass parts have lots of detail on them. Cleaned up they should shine. 2 Door Hinges 3 1/2" X 3" old antique steeple top pins restored Atlas vines This lot of hinges would be great for a person renovating an old house and needs some nice matching hinges. Good old vintage cast iron is stronger and harder than the new soft reproduction stuff they make in modern hinges. Likely cast in the last 1880's to the early 1900's. These have a nice sharp. Clean and fancy casting. The pattern is also on the back of the hinge and shows when the door is closed. The hinges were stripped of all the paint and wire brushed. The hinges were sprayed with clear acrylic lacquer finish made by Sherwin Williams that is specially made for cast iron and exterior applications. This is a better finish than a hardware store spray paint. This clear finish has superior scratch and water resistance.
