3 1930s Antique Rustic Iron Barn Door Trolley Track Rollers Hanger Hardware
Three antique BARN DOOR farm rollers and hardware. From a barn erected in in 1930s or before. On our Kansas farm! Altho I only have 2 pictured. I have the LAST remaining 3 off our barn. The rollers turn on two of these. Third set wheels don't turn. There is no groove in the rollers. I see there's one bolt in the top of one that holds the roller on. Surely I can find that out in the bucket of these iron brackets. Yes. I have bolts, nuts to fit) Measure 9 1/2" tall x 7 1/4" wide. No manufacturer name on them. Hand forged? Not sure. Nice lot of four antique Eastlake patterned doorknob keyhole backplates for your consideration. These are good reusable condition. Some very minor peening might be needed to straighten a couple of the edges. Most of the original copper Japanning is gone. Some residual cleaning will be needed for a new finish where there is some old paint and finish on them. Neck collars are tight for reuse and measure just shy of 3/4 of an inch. Plates measure 5 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches and are 2 inches ctr to ctr of the skeleton key barrel to the doorknob collar. Questions welcome otherwise what you see is what you get. I have seen them described elsewhere as Eastlake, but can't find confirmation that mine are actually Eastlake so am describing them as Eastlake-like. They measure just over 1& 3/4" in diameter. The inside opening measures 9/16" in diameter. Not only are these architectural gems, but they make lovely pendants when worn individually. Here is a treasure trove of essential and unique pieces of antique skeleton door hardware-often overlooked but important. two matte black metal knobs(good shape) with one spare metal knob. one brass fcomponant/ faced mortise lock in working order. Two iron hinges(not matching) the black one is in great shape and very ornate the other is damaged and is mostly for parts. 3-4 mortise lock strike plates- not often thought of when installing an antique door/hardware- they are nice to have and not easy to come by. 2 mortise latch/strike catches-again. Not often thought of- these are for the external type"box" skeleton type locks these are both cast iron-one is ornate the other with old paint. Two spring loaded. Floor or top door iron bolt locks- one is complete with chain(no catch though- most you'll find just use a hole in the floor ... moreor door jam with a strike plate) The other is a very cool footed lock with a button release(I don't think this one was used with a catch- just a hole in the floor or jam) anyway it's foot operated-this one does have a faint hairline fracture but it remains fully intact and functional. 4 skeleton key hole covers/ escutcheons 2 matching brass 1 very old brass and 1 ornate cast iron. These are very handy when working with old doors. There are also 3 knob stem hole centering pieces/mounts-priceless for the door reclaimer. Now. One of these may be my favorite piece of antique hardware I have ever had- as it's patent dates are spanning the Civil War"July 15, 1862" And"June 21. 1864" It's cast iron and unassuming but just to see those dates is cool.to me at least. Another incredible antique hardware find! I was given the chance to salvage anything I wanted from a small antique barn that was going to be demolished. I went over the entire barn with a fine tooth comb. I found many fantastic treasures.including this piece! This kick plate was on a side entrance door. Above the door was one of those green& white porcelain barn lights, of course I salvaged that.it sold immediately! I estimate this kick plate to be about 55-65 years old It is made from solid brass/bronze.not the lower quality steel with a plating You will not find a more gorgeous authentic antique kick plate that has aged perfectly for 55-65 years. The patina and character on the bronze can only be created by many. Many years of exposure to the elements. The kick plate is in excellent antique condition. They had a grease pencil mark that said"SOLD" so I am guessing it was purchased as an antique to install. But never did. I have done no rework or restoration to it. Gorgeous glass work! This door started life as a custom piece crafted for a Hillsborough. California mansion. Its most striking elements are the beautiful glasswork and the truly unique bas-relief ribbons on one side of the door. An architectural historian estimated its manufacture date as sometime between 1900 and 1910. Based on its ... moreconstruction. It does show wear from its age and several moves. There are two hairline cracks in the glasswork. Several repaired dings to the wood window frame, and the wood joins in that frame have parted slightly. It appears as though the hinge side may once have been drilled for the lock mechanism, then refilled. The finish is alligatored, and there are scratches that range from faint to fairly deep. All of these are shown in the pictures; please examine them carefully. The original brass hardware is included and is absolutely stunning. The strikeplate is still present! These are great display pieces for collectible tools or can easily be repurposed into barn door rollers or even for hanging interesting repurposed lighting. This is a set of antique door hardware. I know nothing about old hardware so make you check it out before bidding. The knobs look like tortis shell finish. They have a real nice swiral pattern on them. There is a small chip on the edge of one knob. The face plates have some surface rust but I'm sure it would clean up nice. The latch moves and isn't rusted solid. Like I said I know nothing about this stuff. I'm not a dealer. Just someone trying to clean out the garage. Any questions just ask. Thanks
