This is a pretty vintage German lay down perfume scent bottle made of mercury glass in white with blue. Orange, green swirls. There is gold glitter in some of the swirls. Circa 1930's. The metal crown cover is attached to a piece of cork and it unscrews. The cover has some tarnish that is expected from aging. 2 1/4" tall and just under 1 1/2" wide. Antique, RARE Ruby Red Glass Victorian Perfume Bottle with Sterling Silver
Beautiful. Rare and elegant, with faceted glass and ornate repousse silver hinged flip top lid. Glass is hand-blown and a rich ruby red found in decorative glass pieces of the Victorian era. These bottles first appeared in the late 1700's, but it wasn't until the mid-1800's that they were in general use. Their popularity waned during the late 1800's, but they continued to be made until the turn of the century. This item is in excellent condition, the silver carved hinge lid in perfect working order, with only a slight unevenness to the silver caused by opening and closing the lid and a slight patina to the silver. The faceted glass has a few nicks, but overall, it is in perfect shape. The bottle may have been worn around a lady's neck, as was the style of the age. Generally, a customer purchased the perfume bottle empty ... moreand had it filled by a chemist or perfumier, as ready-filled bottles of perfume were not yet on the market. This one contains a remnant of the owners' original perfume content, now a dried out solid. Excellent, low price for high value, rare piece- check out similar items being sold on the web. Bottle measures approx. 2 3/8" tall by 1 1/4" wide at its widest part. Silver clasp top is approx. 7/8 of an inch in diameter.

This card is from the C L Cotton Company that was in Earlville New York. In the earlyy 1900's the company maufactured perfume but little else could be found about the company although I found images of at least two other trade cards they it had printed. As almost everyone knows scents from flowers are used in many. If not all, perfumes so the image connects with the product somewhat. Earlville is another upstate New York town and it only has a population of about 900. It sounds arty with a few galleries, a theater and a good cafe. I wouldn't be surprised if the town had more people when this card was printed. Many of the New York State town's and cities have lower population because of almost a continual recession due mainly to outsourcing to other countries. A tiny chatelaine style scent bottle made of ruby red glass with a metal hinged lid. It measures 1-7/8 inches tall by 1-1/4 inches in diameter. Glass is in good condition. No chips cracks or damage. There is some old perfume inside that will be up to the new owner to clean. The inner stopper is gone. Originally this would have had 2 little rings on the collar for a chain to hang from. Hallmarked 1869 Gorham sterling silver and cut crystal Victorian perfume vial. It has 4 rows of cut snowflake diamonds running from top to bottom and 4 rows of grooved lines in between the diamonds. The inside if the bottle is frosted. The bottom has been polished. Fancy floral sterling hinged top with center medallion for initials. It has a monogram in old English. EAS or EAL or ENS or ENL? The only letter I am sure of is the E. The other 2 are too fancy to read. The top is hinged and has a band of sterling around the crystal. The bottle measures 3 1/2" in length. It is hallmarked with a lion facing to the right, an anchor, the letter B. The perfume bottle is in remarkably great condition. The sterling is not dented or scratched. This in an antique very large and impressive cut glass perfume bottle with silver neck and a silver domed screw top. The bottle was bought in the UK where it was manufactured. We have used it for decoration only so it does not smell from old perfume. It is sold as we bought it and would benefit from a good cleaning on the inside. There are identical hall marks on both top and bottle neck(photo 3) which means that this is the original top for this bottle.
