Here I will be selling a beautiful collection of original James Tassie glass gems. I will be parting with 67 glass gems over the next month. All have an intaglio negative cut into them and so this is seen as a cameo when viewed from the flat side. These were used as seals to press into wax. Some of these casts are of W Brown’s great gems. These are of exceptional quality and were sometimes mounted in a backless picture frames where light would gleam through from behind the gems revealing the lovely colors. Tassie was a perfectionist and casting in glass was not easy– the failure rate would depress him& he would destroy a lot of casts and only if a bubble did not interfere with the image did he approve it. Antique Early 19th C. Georgian Blown Cut Glass Double Knop Stem Dram Wine Flute
This listing is for a late 18th or early 19th Century dram drinking glass. It is blown of clear non leaded glass. And has a very slight pink tint, and tight horizontal striations. It has flute cutting on the bowl, and a double, annulated knop stem. The foot is slightly domed, and has a polished pontil. The vessel is 4.6" tall, and 2.5" across the top and foot. Antique 19 C. Georgian Armorial Crest Cut Glass Port Wine Taper Decanter & Label
This listing is for a Nineteenth Century antique tapered club form port wine decanter with fine diamond and flute cutting. It has a faceted flattened lozenge form stopper. And intricately engraved Royal Crown armorial crest over an"N" monogram. The engraving is beautiful with tiny evenly spaced cross hatches. It retains its hand made silver bottle ticket and belcher chain- which is unmarked. I'm unsure as to whether it is sterling, but it still has the scribe marks used to lay out the punch work. The decanter is unsigned, but markings are visible on the side of the polished stopper plug. it appears to read" 328 AGn T Paw" I am uncertyain about the"G" and"w" The glass is quite clear, and of good quality. The base of the decanter is cut in the same fine diamonds as found on the body of the piece. ... moreThe decanter measures 11.4" to the top of the stopper, and 9.1" to the top of the rim. It is in excellent condition with a few small nicks/ fleabites(see photos for worst) Inside, there are several very faint cloudy speckles(mentioned only for accuracy- nothing that would show up in the photos! English sterling silver and glass mustard pot made in London in 1814. The pot has an English sterling silver mustard ladle from 1810. The pot is done in a classic form and is raised on four bun or ball feet. The hinged lid has a thumb rest and the front is engraved with a great crest of an armored forearm/hand holding up an arrow. The pot has its original, cobalt blue thick glass liner. The pot and its lid are marked with the lion passant for sterling silver and a date letter T for the year 1814. The side of the pot is also marked with the crowned leopards head for London and a duty mark of King George IIIs head. The makers mark on the pot is too worn to determine. The spoon is ... moremarked with the lion passant. A duty mark, a date letter P for the year 1810 and a makers mark for Robert Rutland. This piece is in excellent overall condition for its age. There are no major dents. No breaks, no monogram removals and no repairs. The pot measures 2 1/2 by 3 inches and is 2 7/8 inches tall. The ladle is 3 3/4 inches long. Early 18th c Georgian English Blown Heavy Baluster Champagne or Sweetmeat Glass
You are bidding on a nice 18th c blown heavy baluster sweetmeat or champagne glass from around the 1720-30's that stands about 6 5/16" high. Bowl is 4" across and foot is 3 5/16" Has a rough pontil. It has an angular knop and a domed foot. It has an old collection sticker that says"English Circa 1735" on it. There is a small scratch near the lip of the bowl. I tried to show it in picture#7, not very noticable but wanted to mention it. A few other very tiny marks and the usual imperfections found in early glass. There is a v shaped gap on the stem where the stem meets the bowl(see picture#8) that was done when connecting the stem and bowl together, it is not a chip. Other than that it is in perfect shape. It rings like a bell when tapped. Would make a very nice addition to any collection. The silver top shines up beautifully still The main body is glass and has a lovely rounded shape with the most gorgeous cut design over it- these really create an interesting look and certainly adds a quality feel to the item. The glass is in really good order- there are a few very small nibble chips on the diamond decoration but no cracks or chips which are obvious It has a silver top which simply pushes on. This has a split. A few dents and an old repair which can be seen in the photos. It does have a lovely shape though and decorated with holes for the sugar to come out. The silver top shines up beautifully still The main body is glass and has a lovely rounded shape with the most gorgeous cut design over it- these really creates an interesting look and certainly adds a quality feel to the item. The glass is in really good order- there are a few very small nibble chips on the diamond decoration but no cracks or chips which are obvious It has a silver rim and silver top which simply pushes on. The top has a split where the spoon would fit through and on the inside there is evidence of solder repair. The rim on the glass also has evidence of repair. Both pieces of silver are hallmarked although the ones on the lid are very very worn. The ones on the rim are slightly clearer and I hope they are visible in the photos. The makers ... moremark is worn but I think the first letter is a"G" There are remains of the lion passant mark. A monarch's head and what looks to be a date letter- a capital"A" with a crown above it I believe this is a genuine Georgian dated item- I have a similar shaped sugar castor item for sale also with a silver top but these are even more worn! You are bidding on a nice 18th c continental wine glass. The bowl is flute cu t and has a gilt rim. The stem is cut and it has a rough pontil. The glass is in great shape. No cracks or repairs. There is very minor roughness and scratching on some of the flute cutting due to use and there is minor loss to the gilt band, again from use. The glass stands about 5 1/2" tall. 18th c Blown Georgian Air Twist Wine Glass Folded Foot Conical Bowl c1750
You are bidding on a nice blown 18th c air twist stem wine glass. It has an MSAT stem and has a folded foot. It stands about 6 1/4" tall. The bowl is about 2 1/2" across and the foot is about 2 11/16" across. It has a rough pontil. No chips. Cracks or repairs. There is a large unfused particle in the stem(see photo's#3& 7) and a small particle on the rim of the bowl that can be felt as a rough spot with the finger(see picture#10) There are a lot of bubbles in the bowl. VASELINE GLASS GREEN PITCHER- GEORGIAN PATTERN This auction is for a green depression glass pitcher that illuminates under a black light. The pitcher is in the Georgian pattern. A pattern produced by Fenton, Cambridge, Duncan Miller, Hocking, and others. I do not know who produced this particular jug, although I have ruled out Fenton as the handle and top rim are dissimilar to their recognized Georgian pitchers. This pitcher stands about 8 1/4" tall, or 7" high to the lip of the rim. The base is about 4 3/4" tall. There are no signs of damage and the base has patterned scratchwear/rubbing commensurate with its age. The factory craftsmanship shows irregularities on the turned in edges of the spout.they are poorly alinged and both tips show the marks of the crimper tool used to twist the glass before cooling. The top rim also'pitches ... moreand rolls'things you can expect to see in mass produced depression glass with relaxed quality control standards. Although it was washed in hot soapy water before photographing, adhesive residue and old greasy grim in the creases, still remained. All the residue areas were re-washed and removed after pictures were taken. Please review all pictures as they are part of the description. This auction is for the console bowl and the 2 candle holder s made by Central Glass. They are amber in color with a very nice gold encrusted edge. The bowl and candle holders are ribbed on the underside and smooth on the top. The bowl measures 13" across and 2 1/2" high. The gold band on the bowl is 2" wide. The candle holders measure 5 1/2" across and 3" high. The gold band on the candle holders is 3/4" wide. All 3 pieces are in excellent condition- no chips. Scratches, cracks or damage. Offered for your bidding is an exceptionally high-quality suite of 8 x Georgian ruby glass water goblets or wine glasses(presumably English) Circa 1800- 1830. A wonderful addition to even the most discerning& well-appointed tables! These substantial goblets are of remarkable ruby red color, and beautifully made. An elegant neo-classical design, featuring the rare square foot. The vase shaped upper portions are hand-blown, as are the tapered stems, and thick molded square'lemon-squeezer' feet. The bottom of each stem has had the prunt polished, and most feature some small evidence of their hand-crafting in the form of miniscule implosions in the glass, etc. Condition: All 8 goblets have smooth upper drinking rims, free of any chips or signes of grinding.
