Ornate Antique Enamel and Brass Filigree Picture Frame w/ Mini Hannover Photo
This wonderful old frame is only 5-3/4 inches wide and 3-3/4 inches tall. It was owned by my great aunt. Who was an antique dealer in San Francisco during the 1930s and 40s, though I have no idea of its true age. The photo certainly looks old. The frame holds a tiny picture in the center circle, which is about the size of a half dollar(about an inch) As can be seen in the photos, it is all flowers and leaves and was richly enameled in green, though the enamel is showing wear, and there were probably round stones in several places, which are visible in the photos. I assume the little circular photo holder was removable so that a picture could be placed under the glass. However, there appears to be a small brass solder in the center of the frame's back, and this may have permanently affixed the photo frame. I'm guessing about this, ... morebut I don't want to try to remove the circular frame for fear of damaging the piece. Only a small piece of wire has been affixed to the back for hanging- doesn't appear to be original to the frame but can simply be twisted or cut off. The plate features a gold filigree snowflake type design on a white backround in the center. The center is bordered by a darker green band that has a gold scroll type pattern. The border has an ornate gold band of circles or wheels with flower shapes and arrow points. This is hard to describe so please see pics for a better idea. The gold band is bordered top and bottom with thin green bands that have raised enamel beading. The rim also has a delicate gold design. The plate is in very good condition. However there are some wear spots on the green and some gold wear. There is also a missing bead here and there on the plates available. Please note: I have 5 plates avialable.
