CONDITION: Very good though bears evidence of a very neat. Professional repair. Minor scratches and scuffs consistent with use and then burial in soil. DETAIL: This is a very handsome. Complete second century A.D. Roman glass perfume bottle(or“unguentarium” which possesses a light iridescent burial patina with purple, pink, blue and green highlights. Most Roman glass vessels recovered complete(intact or repairable) are between 1½ and 3 inches in size– this one obviously exceeds the high end of this scale. However though complete, in a sense it is not intact. The glass perfume bottle was broken, whether in ancient times or perhaps when it was excavated, as there is a fairly clean break toward the bottom. The repair however seems to have been made with bitumen(tar) which would indicate that the repair was ancient. Some of the bitumen has been lost, so there is a small hole in the side of the bottle. But it appears to have been repaired and reused in ancient Rome– a rather uncommon find. Small jars. Pitchers, unguentariums, jugs, bottles, jars and flasks like this were used to contain aromatic oils, perfumes, medicinal ointments, and cosmetics. It is not to say that the Romans did not use larger pieces of glass on their tables such as bowls and cups; and even larger containers for transporting foodstuffs; because they did. In fact whatever the Romans had produced in clay in the first and second centuries B.C. was by the first and second centuries A.D. more common

The other one has a part of a flower missing(Picture with the frosty looking outline shows the missing silver) It was hard to get great pictures without glare and reflections and shadows. These are not marks on the Silver or bottle. But like I mentioned. Silver needs to be polished, so there are tarnished marks, Patina? The Top rims are also slightly different. One has a little wider cover lip. The Stoppers are complete. One has a“fracture” Bottom of stem, but it seems to be internal. Both have chipping/fleabites along stem bottoms. The One Stopper with the“fracture” was hand-blown and is hollow. The other Stopper is Solid. Each are similar size but have a little different shape. These two really complement each other. But they are not identical. Would be a lovely Cruet Set for Oil and Vinegar. They are both so lovely just Sitting on Display. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Antique Victorian blue glass & silver double ended perfume scent bottle
Over the next few weeks I am selling a large collection of antiques for my brother. Most have been acquired through auction houses. This auction is for a really beautiful double ended scent bottle. Late 19th century. The main body is a 10 sided deep turquoise blue glass section with silver ends both sides. It is almost identical to this one. Which is selling for £255! Which no longer tightens properly, there is a small crack at the base of the lid. The other side has a hinged lid with original cut glass stopper which snaps shut nicely. There are no hallmarks on the silver. But I am pretty sure they are sterling silver. Apparently according to the website above it was common for scent bottles of this ... moreperiod not to have marks. I have not tested the composition, and no guarantees that they are not silver plate. Measures approx 4 7/8" long x 1 1/8" at widest point. Circa 1880-1910. This wonderful piece would be a great addition to your antique Silver or bottle collection or a very special gift! This is an exquisite example of a Sterling silver overlay bottle complete with it's original lid& glass stopper! Not only is it"colored" glass which is more desirable than clear. But it is a thicker overlay sought after by collectors, unlike later cheaper pieces of silver overlay. The bottle is a dark green glass with a thick Sterling silver ... moreoverlay of beautiful. Swirling Art Nouveau curves. The bottle is hallmarked on the overlay"STERLING" on the bottom edge. The original Sterling silver cap/lid is engraved on the top with ornate script initials and the inside appears to be gold plated/flashed. The cap is threaded inside and screws on& off of the threaded top of the glass bottle. The cap is also hallmarked"STERLING" on the bottom side. Under this cap is the original glass stopper. The tab handle to the stopper was applied to the round base. There is a line where the tab was attached(this is not a crack) These bottles are very rare due to their fragility. Most pieces found have cracks hidden by the silver overlay. This piece does not. The bottle measures approx. 2 5/8" tall from the base to the top of the Sterling silver lid. The bottle measures approx. 1 1/2" diameter. This item is an estate piece and in excellent condition for it's age. The Sterling lid has some shallow dents consistent with it's age& the softness of Sterling. The silver overlay is in excellent condition. There are no pieces missing, only a few small dings. Great vaseline cut glass scent bottle with sterling cap. Very fine quality. Cap has a small ding. And it needs a new pin but is otherwise fine.the hinge is off kilter but can be fixed with a new straight pin I am quite sure. Glows like crazy under a blacklight. Antique 150 A.D. Roman Iridescent Art Glass Perfume Medicine Flask, Bottle, Vase
This piece is being relisted as the previous winning bidder never completed the transaction. You are looking at an authentic ancient Roman piece of glass. It was excavated after centuries of being buried in the earth and does have soil deposits remaining on it. These viles were used to package valuable oils. Perfumes and cosmetics in Roman times. The delicate glass is handblown, tinted a pale green with a very pretty irridescence. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips and measures about 4 1/2 inches tall and a little over 2 inches wide. This piece was purchased at the estate auction of a collector of all things ancient and antique. This piece was previously bid on and won and the bidder never paid, thus it is relisted. Offered is a most unusual object shaped like a large egg. It was sold as a cordial set. But I believe it is either an absinthe container or a perfume bottle box. It is reminiscent of Czech glass pieces. The central glass bottle with stopper is the only one included. It is in excellent condition and is 5" in height. The insert is brass with 6 holes around a 7th hole. Some of the Coralene is worn off, but much of it is intact. The scene is a quaint house next to a tree which looks like a birch tree. Although the cased glass appears tan in the photos, it is really more orange. The glass is free of any chips, cracks or repairs. This is a stunning turquoise murano controlled bubble perfume bottle with stopper. This lovely gem is 4 3/4" tall to the top of the stopper and 3" in diameter at widest points. Vintage Antique Flower Drop Perfume Set Rieger's Wood Box 3 Tiny Glass Perfumes
Very old set of tiny perfume bottles in a green hinged wooden box. The box is marked Rieger's Flower Drops and has spaces for 4 tiny bottles. Three are still intact. The box measures 3 1/4 inches by 1 1/2 inch by 3/4 inch. Each of the 3 tiny flasks measure 1 1/8 inch long. The perfume dauber has a faceted top and a ground stopper. The dauber measures 1 inch long and the flask measures 3/4 inch long. Each of the perfumes fit snugly in the box. The top of the box has a cotton lining to keep the glass stoppers safe. Two of the 3 perfumes come apart very easily. The 3rd will probably have to be soaked in order for it to be opened with out damaging the flask or the stopper. The box's top is hinged to the bottom. Antique French Baccarat Cut Glass Perfume Bottle-ca.1900's /1800's?
HI. UP FOR AUCTION we have a Stunning Antique French Baccarat Cut Glass Perfume Bottle. The bottle is 10-sided with 5 horizontal rings cut around the cylinder. Plus each of the 10 sides are faceted. Quite complicated. Each horizontal cut had gold leafing which is mostly faded away, depends on how the light catches the bottle. There is also a star or snowflake motif going around the center facets of the bottle. Some are more worn than others. There is a small ground indentation on the bottom of the bottle. I believe a pontil mark which was ground down so the bottle would sit flat. A small chip on the end of the stopper. The size of the bottle is 5 1/2" to the top of the stopper. 4" to the top of the bottle lip. And the bottle is 1 3/4" wide. Check out the pictures and good luck. This auction is for the smallest scent bottle I have seen. It is 1" in hight(with cap) 5/8" across the glass, and about 1/4" deep. It is in a great amber pattern glass. It is in wonderful shape, The sterling silver(unmarked) cap is loose from age and use. This can be tightend by a jeweler, or someone with the correct insterments. I am not going to try.
