Round, hinged opaline glass jewel box featuring a hand-painted floral decoration and a cream-coloured peau de soie lining. The box is white opaline glass with a raised band of white"ruching" around the centre decoration on the powder blue lid and powder blue"ruching" around the the rim of the white base. The lid is further decorated with a delicate spray of hand-painted pink flowers and buds with pale green leaves. The floral decoration is enhanced with ... moreraised white enamel dots on the buds and stamens of the flowers. The box opens and closes with hook clasp affixed to a lovely gilt band covering the rim of both the bottom of the lid and the top of the base. Both the top and bottom of the band are decorated with a centre repousse band of connected ovals bordered with tiny raised dots. The lid raises and lowers on a piano hinge at the back of the box. The mechanism works perfectly. Wavecrest Glass was manufactured in Meridian Connecticut by C.F. Monroe Glass between 1880 and 1916. When the factory closed. This very feminine box would make a wonderful presentation box for a special piece of jewellery this Valentine's Day or a lovely addition to a collection of Wavecrest. Marked: On the base. With the Wavecrest factory mark consisting of a flag centred in a curvilinear frame with the word"Wavecrest" on the standard and a bird flying beneath it. We are pleased to offer this exquisite. Antique lamp. This grand lamp(37" with shade attached) features an ornate, bronzed spelter frame with intricate details. The base of the frame has ornamental urns with bellflower swags. There are geometric circles for contrast. The lamp base houses 4, bent, ribbed glass panels which are reverse painted in a rose or chrysanthemum motif. The base is lighted separately(functions independently) from the top of the lamp and operates with one standard bulb and a pull chain on/off switch. The center section of the lamp features 3 large figural putti. This trio act as the weight bearers for the large glass lamp shade. The opaline glass shade is a light tan color on the exterior and white on the interior. The glass is fairly thick and features a deeply swirled pattern. It sits into the ornate lamp fitter ... morewhich features a pattern of acanthus and shells. The top section also utilizes a single, regular bulb and also operates with its own pull chain on/off switch. This is a beautiful lamp. Neither the frame nor the glass is marked or signed. But no rust or broken sections. The glass pieces are in very good condition with wear limited to the fitter sections of the glass. The wiring is vintage but has been updated at some point. Up for sale today is a nice antique blue opaline glass trinket box or casket. Though it is not marked. I believe the piece was made in France. The blue opaline glass lid and base are set in brass ormolu mounts, with ball feet and a hinged lid. There is a small trace of a paper label under the mount on the bottom of the piece, and a"34" in gold leaf inside the lid. The top of this box has a lovely enamel angel or cherub. The piece is in nice condition, with no damage and only light possible wear. It measures approx. 1 3/4" tall(with the lid closed) and is approx. 3 9/16" in diameter(though the legs and hinge do stick out slightly on the sides) What a great piece to add to your collection. The popularity of Opaline glass began during the reign of Napoleon and peaked during the reign of Napoleon III. All opaline glass is hand-blown and has a rough or polished pontil on the bottom. There are no seams and no machine engraving. Many pieces of opaline glass are decorated with gilding. Some with hand painted flowers or birds. Several have bronze ormolu mounts. Rims, hinges or holders. Real opaline glass was produced only in France. In the 20th century Italy produced a similar glass and called it opaline veritable. However, most all opaline glass is not branded or signed. Today in general. Opaline still remains obscure and mostly unknown. A lot/Set of three Ashtray bowls. Made of snow-white opaline glass with bluish Opalescent hues, mounted with bronze gilded mounts in their edge. The biggest ashtray has a bit different hue- with some yellowish and comes with its original box. 4 cm. high. 10 cm. diam. wight 288 grams. The two smaller one are almost identical. Came from the same estate but have no box. Both are 3 cm. high, 6 cm. diam. One ashtray weight 128 grams, the other- 132 grams. In very good condition- bronze mounts can be cleaned a bit. No cracks. This is a beautiful antique blue Opaline milk glass dish/ bowl with the Scroll& Eye pattern. Made by Challinor Taylor& Co. The plate version appears on page 13, image 9a of to reference book Milk Glass by Belknap. Where we are told it came in white, black and blue in four different sizes. It is in perfect condition. With no chips, cracks, stains or rep airs. The glass has swirls and straw marks typical of glass making in the late 1800s era. It measures 7 1/4" across and sits a little over 1 1/2" high. Antique?-French?-Blue Opaline Milk Glass-Trumpet Shape-Unusual Vase? Peice Part
Offered is a peice I ran across that I'm not exactly sure what it is or its use but looks like a vase of sorts. The unusual thing is it has what appears to be brass threads attached to the bottom. It looks quite old and I would think its antique but may be vintage. Its shape is like a horn or trumpet flower. It is a tealish blue opaline milk glass with a embossed design that leads me to beleive its most likely a French peice but again not certain. The threads are attached with what looks to be a glue or clear apoxy as you can see it ran over a bit onto glass but is attached super well. It obviously screw onto something possibally it had a base or the only other thing I could think was maybe a headstone vase, Just not sure? Its very pretty and is in good condition with the exception of one tiny chip on one of the point at top but is very ... morehard to see, I tried to photo the area in last picture and it as stated above has some residue on glass at bottom thread attachment area. This auction is for a gorgeous pair of blue opaline glass vases with hand painted enamel flowers and gilding. They measure 4" tall and 2 1/2" across the tops. There is quite a bit of loss to the gilding overall. Especially on the feet and around the rims of the vases. There are two very tiny chips on the underside of the rim of one vase, one the size of a pin head and the other the size of a pinprick, as shown in the photos. There is no damage to the painted flowers. To my eye, the damage does not at all detract from the beauty of these pieces and I have to really look hard to see it! Antique Pair Nickle Plated Candle Sticks with Antique Blue Glass Opaline Globes
Antique Pair of Nickle Plated Candle Holders with Blue Opaline Glass Globes. The pair is marked on the base with an anchor and compass mark. I have not been able to find anything on this wonderful old pair. It looks as if they were originally spring loaded candle sticks but the columns have filled with wax and I have not taken them apart to inspect. The fabulous element if this pair is the blue opaline globes. Not sure if the are French or not but the look to have been hand blown. A little roughness on the bottom edges from where they were cut but no breaks, cracks, chips or nicks in the glass. The two bases have a few dings as you might expect from age but otherwise no breaks. Bends or repairs. The pair stands 14" high to the top of the globes with the bases measuring 4-1/4" in diameter. Antique French Opaline Glass White Casket Sugar Box Pate de Riz? Jewelry Box
Antique French Opaline Glass Sugar Casket Box We are very excited to offer a beautiful. Mid 19th century French Opaline glass sugar box. The box is a beautiful translucent white opaline glass which I believe is Pate-de-Riz(glass powder fired in a mold) and the edges and corners are beveled. This process was used to produce opaline glass in France during the 1840's and the product resembled Alabaster as this very much does. The rim is fitted with hinged brass bands and a lock(we do not have the key) This box would have been orginally used to store and lock sugar which was a precious and prized commodity in Europe at the time but now could serve as a beautiful jewelry box or as a table accessory for sugar still. The box measures 5 1/4" in length, 3 3/16" in width and 4 1/4" in height. The is very beautiful piece of opaline ... moreglass and would be a wonderful addition to an expanding collection. Condition: Very good antique condition. Especially for a utilitarian glass item from this time period. There is one small, shallow surface flaw on the top of the lid that is about 1/4" in length which is also very smooth so I believe it is a flaw in the molding of the glass. There is also very small flake(1/8" or less) on the interior of the lid by the brass edge and not visible from the outside. There is some surface wear on the base appropriate for it's age and a some very light surface scratches on the sides of the base. There is also some type of adhesive visible under the brass rim on the interior which may be original or old attempt to stabilize the brass rim at some point. Presented is a lovely turquoise blue Antinue glass lidded box. This piece looks like opaline glass. The box is hand painted with raised enamel decoration depicting gold gilt vines.Leaves and flowers. The bronze or brass metal rings and hinded fittings allow the lid to snap closed. This box was probably made between 1850 to 1900. Polished pontil on bottom? The box is signed with 6. on the inside of the lid and box. That is likely the artist's mark left by the painter. The box is in superb condition with the only problem being loss to the gold gilding on the fittings and a little wear to some of the painting at the high contact areas of the piece. Victorian Pink Opaline. 20 inch High Glass Vase with Central Putto Portrait This is a stunning Victorian Pink Opaline Glass Vase measuring 20 inches in height. Circa 1840- 1860. It stands on a circular footed base with enamel beadwork encircling it. The front of the vase has a central cartouche within which is a hand painted portrait of a putto. Exquisitely detailed. This is surrounded by gold gilding and then white enamel beadwork. The beadwork is echoed on the shoulder of the vase together with the lid which has a turret shaped finial. Condition. Good, There are no cracks, chips or restoration. There is some rubbing to the gilding consistent with age but no loss of paint on the central painted portrait.

Here is a beautiful powder container-the lady is beautiful- as you can see she is tarnished- to me it looks like the plating is coming off- but I am not sure. There is an insignia on the mirror she is holding- it is very hard to make out- I got as close up as I could. I see one faint mark on the back side of the metal lady- it says"copyright usa" The glass has no cracks or chips. But has some impercfections that I pictured- they are hard to see- so let me know if you have any questions. I am assuming this is a victorian piece due to the color of the glass- which is very sheer/milky when held up to the light- I believe this is called opaline.
