Antique French Opaline Glass Decanter Tumbler Roman Cameo Greek Key Enamel Vase
Antique opaline glass set up for auction. I'm not positive on date or maker. Not really sure if it is a decanter and tumbler or a vase and bowl. Could have been to a dresser set or might be a water set, could have had a stopper. Both are white opaline glass that has finely ground bottoms, tall piece has the number 17 etched on the bottom. They have been painted or enameled to a peach color. Each has 3 cameos of Greek or Roman heads, two women. In between there is a nice Greek key design. There are gold highlights and trims with some wear to the tops. No chips or cracks, no paint loss. Tall measures 8 3/4" T x 4 1/2" W. Tumbler measures 4" T x 4" W. UNIQUE BAR BOTTLE BLUE OPALINE GLASS DECANTER French Sevres PV Portieux
You are buying a beautiful blue opaline 9 1/2 inch tall bar bottle made in France by Sevres. Portieux Vallerysthal, or another older manufacturer, as seen in the pictures. This was probably made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. In the 1800's. When distilled liquor was delivered in barrels, bartenders poured drinks from bar bottles. These had a metal pouring spout instead of a stopper. There are usually several clear flint glass bar bottles from the 1850's to the 1880's for sale on ebay. These never had a stopper. Sometimes they still have a pouring spout in place. Colored flint bar bottles are rare. If you collect opaline or bottles, I can more or less guarantee that you will never see another blue opaline bar bottle like this. Pouring spouts are still used these days with modern bottles. I don't know if the modern ... morepourers will fit this bottle. This bar bottle is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks, or repairs. It is 9 1/2 inches tall and 4 7/8 inches wide. A 7/8 inch diameter pourer will fit. The bottle was made in a 2 part mold and is marked"N D Depose" Depose" is French for"Registered" I checked French patent office and design registry websites and was unable to find anything about this bottle. The color is a deeper, richer blue than Portieux Vallerysthal blue, but it matches Cambridge Blue Azurite, and it goes with PV blue very well. The bottle is not as deep blue as the older 1830's to 1850's blue opaline. See my other listings for some of this. If you hold this bottle up to a bright light. James A Jobling and Co. launched it’s Art Glass line in 1932 and discontinued it with the advent of WWII. In that short time they produced some of the finest pressed glass in England. A beautiful Antique French Baccarat Type Opaline Glass& Sterling Silver Cigarette& Match Holder. Exceptional Quality. Most likely a one of kind masterpiece. Where do I start, The glass is period French Opaline Glass with a cranberry rim most likely made by Baccarat in the late 1800s. The glass holders are set on hallmarked hand chased sterling silver mounts which rest on a fine carved ebonized wood base, set on 4 carved bone feet. On the bottom base there is a bronze tag, which appears to be Stamped Marte Spiel. What is really neat, is that the match holder has etched ribs in the glass used to light a match. This spectacular piece measures 9" across x 6.5" tall. It is in overall excellent condition for its age. I can only find one very minor issue, One of the bone feet has been touched up, most likely got separated and some ... moregenius decided to secure it with beige paint not professional glue. I am almost positive it will be an easy clean up if necessary. To be honest I missed it completely until I turned the piece over to take a close up of the base. The necklace has been cleaned and re-strung using the original push in clasp which has some tarnishing due to it's age. The necklace measures 19 inches in length. I'm not sure if this vase would be considered Bristol or French Opaline. The glass is semi opaque and, when held to a light, the bottom edge glows a pink color. The outside has a matte finish and the inside is shiny. It is blown glass and has a rough pontil on the bottom. The artist's initials are also on the bottom and it reads" W. Sch. I think, see photo) The painting is of a Swiss or German Woman who is reading a letter. She has a bright gold ring on her finger but it does not show up in the photos. 9 1/4" high x 5 1/4" in diameter at the ruffled top. This fabulous19th century french pink opaline glass casket is richly adorned in hand painted enamel and bronze feet and handles. The front. Sides, reverse and lid are decorated in stunning hand painted courtship garden scene, swans and flowers. The handles are in the shape of cherubs and the feet are decorated with head of a man or mask. Attributed to Baccarat and was most likely painted by Jean-Francois Robert, who developed and patented the technique for painting on glass in the 1830's. Formerly, he was a painter at the Sevres porcelain company and set up a workshop in Sevres. A vintage electric lamp shade form the 1920s or 1930s. Made by the Beaumont Glass Co of Grafton, West Virginia. It's in their trademark opaline glass, which they called Moonstone when used for tableware and Ferlux(or Fer-Lux) when it was used for lighting. It's of a ribbed pattern and a good size. The brooch features a ruffled edge with open work design and enhanced with blue and white enamel work. Mounted at the center is an oval white opaline glass is piece of braided hair protected under clear beveled glass. The back of the brooch has a C clasp bar pin. It is in excellent condition overall. A wonderful antique brass three-light chandelier. Dating from the late 19th century, fitted with opaline art glass shades. The fixture begins with an understated canopy and comes down in a rod to meet a foliate cluster. Scrolling arms with leafy flourishes descend from the cluster to meet a twisted brass ring which encircles the fixture. Three downward-facing bobeches affix to each arm and support hand-blown globes with a swirled design and an opalescent glow. The fixture finishes in a beautifully cast orb finial ornamented with a ribbed cap and foliate cluster; beaded chains with spheres at their centers connect each bobeche to the finial. This light fixture is in excellent condition and the glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks, just the expected fleabites around the rims. The glass is glossy white and decorated with heavy gold gilt scroll work. Garlands and criss-cross pattern. There is some minor gilt wear to the center area of garlands. Early research lead me to believe this piece is a unique shape and likely Albertine, which was a shiny Crown Milano produced by Mount Washington Glass Co. We are divided as to whether this fabulous specimen is French or Bohemian in origin. If Czech. We believed this lovely piece was an early product by Buquoy, Pfhol or possibly Hosch. If Bohemian, the manufacture of this piece would likely date to about 1860. However. The quality of the moulding& mushroom stopper lends me to believe the perfume could also be one of Jean-Baptiste Desvigne's studio creations, circa to the Charles X Era(ie: 1820) And Saint-Louis& Baccarat were also producing similar wares at this time. As you note. This completely hand wrought vessel displays four different enamel decorated high ... morerelief moulded flower sprays of unspeakable beauty. The gorgeous piece measures 5 5/8" tall X 5" wide(at widest) And it weighs a hefty 1 pound. 8 ounces. And we are pleased to report that this lovely scent bottle remains in excellent condition. Offered is this beautiful antique Victorian Northwood glass opaline Spanish lace pattern spooner vase. In very nice condition with no chips or cracks. Has some abrasive wear to the bottom from age and use. Probably made around the 1890's. The vase measures 4 1/4" high by 3 3/4" wide. A very nice example. Good luck!
