Large Circa 1800 American Pittsburgh flint cut glass decanter Georgian style
Up for auction is a very fine Large Circa 1800 American Pittsburgh area flint cut glass decanter in the English/Irish Georgian style. The Decanter is free blown. Barrel shape& panel cut with it's original coin stopper. The body has thick walls, a wide flat pouring lip with three applied spaced rings around the neck. The neck rings were applied and tooled into shape. The shoulder of the bottle has cut panels There is a polished pontil on the base. This decanter is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Federal Green Depression Glass - Georgian Lovebirds - Cup and Saucer Set
Cup and Saucer Set- Federal Green"Georgian Lovebirds" Depression Glass Federal Glass made many important depression glass patterns. Federal made"Georgian Lovebirds" from 1931 to 1936. So it is one of their earlier depression patterns, almost exclusively in green. The design is wonderful, with rounded triangle cartouches that frame pairs of birds alternating with baskets. The pairs of birds give this pattern its nickname"Lovebirds. The triangles are connected by swags of leaves and the center of each piece has an elaborate medallion design. This glass is mold-etched. That means the mold was etched with the design and the glass was then pressed. The design is recessed on the mold so the pattern is raised on the surface of the glass. Mold etching was an innovative method to mass produce large quantities of glass with ... moreintricate patterns without the expense and hand labor of individually etched pieces. Offered for sale is an open sugar bowl by Federal Glass Company in the Georgian Green Lovebirds pattern produced from 1931-1936. The open sugar is 3 1/2" tall and 5 1/4" from handle to handle. Two very pretty salts 9cm. long.Hallmarked for London 1834. There is no damage or repair to the silver apart from slight corrosion to the inner ledge where the liner sits. The design is wonderful. With rounded triangle cartouches that frame pairs of birds alternating with baskets. The pairs of birds give this pattern its nickname"Lovebirds. The triangles are connected by swags of leaves and the center of each piece has an elaborate medallion design. This glass is mold-etched. That means the mold was etched with the design and the glass was then pressed. The design is recessed on the mold so the pattern is raised on the surface of the glass.
