Big French Green Opaline Glass Newel Post Finial
A lovely old French Opaline Glass Newel Post Finial. The Finial is made from a pale green opaline glass and the fittings are brass. When the light passes through the glass it is translucent and has an attractive paneled design because of the ribs. The Finial is BIG at 7 1/2" high x 3 1/4" in diameter. It has a threaded hole on the bottom which is approximately 5/16" in diameter. It is in very good overall condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The only thing to note is a small gap on the bottom of the glass where it meets the brass, it is very secure so it is probably in the making. The brass has 2 dents where someone used a tool to remove it from it's newel post, see photos. The finial looks great as a decorative accessory and would be perfect in a Victorian decor. Hello- This is a gorgeous true French Opaline Lamp. It is double-walled glass. Beautiful clarity and depth. The White Sugar Frosted design is in great shape, with the design repeated on both sides. Really at first glance I thought that they were Cherubs- so this lamp is very subtle. The base and fixture are a little tarnished which is typical for antique lamps. The shade is not included. The alabaster white glass has a fine glossy interior and a soft satin exterior. It is decorated with heavy gold gilt enameling and has a center cameo medallion. There is glass opal jeweling around the cameo. The back side is decorated with gold gilt enamel. There is wear to the gilded top rim and base rim. Wonderful condition for age. C. 1840-1860. They measure 9 inches or 23 cm high. And are 7 ¼ inches or 18.5 cm in diameter across the bowl. They feature an oak tree form stem. With oak leaves and a naturalistic ground base. One base has a sly fox walking across the base with his ears up and tail out. The other has a sheep laying down to rest. The figural bases and tree form stems support the beautiful scalloped edge white opaline glass bowls. The bases have a fancy 3 letter monogram at the front and at the back is an engraved with a standing bird mark. The condition is very good overall; there is age appropriate variations to the patina. The box is characteristic of the hand painted opaline designs offered during the mid 19th century at the boutiques of the famed Palais Royal of Paris. The piece is beautifully executed in rose opaline glass with a floral bouquet done in rich enamels on the lid. The ormolu mounts show nice detail to the ring handles and ivy vine draped feet. The piece measures 3 ½" high. 3 ¾" wide at the handles and 3 ½" deep. French Opaline Vase Incredible Vintage Perfect
This is such a beautiful piece of French Opaline. It took my breath away. It is from an estate in New Rochelle, New York and was probably a family heirloom that sat in a china cabinet on display. It measures about 12 1/4" high and about 5" at the top opening. The color is a vivid turquoise and the base and handles are opalescent white. It is really such a fine glass and so beautifully made. It is just in pristine condition. I feel that it is one of a kind.

Bottle measures about 10 inches tall with stopper, 6 3/4 inches without, 3 1/4 inches across widest part, 2 1/4 inches across the base. Bowl measures about 4 3/4 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches across top, 3 1/4 inches across base and 4 1/2 inches across widest part. This might have had a lid at one time. I found these in my Mom's things, she loved blue glass. No idea where she got them or what they are. Did research on ebay, but couldn't find the exact type. Not sure if I'm right on what this is. It looks like the color in the last picture of the lid in real life. not the first three which were taken with flash. It is very very old. When held to the light or sun it shows the imperfections in the glass like old picture frames or pane glass from the 1800's. There are no chips or cracks to glass. There is some wear to the gold enameling, mainly the thin stuff, not the thick design on the front or back. It is 6 1/4" high, 3 1/8" across top of jar. A stunning piece of old glass. The glass is mounted atop a heavily repousse decorated rococco style base with scenic vignettes of windmills. The opaline glass vessel is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The base itself is clad in sterling silver over a very thick paper mache material. Aside from a few small indents and a minor amount of scattered splitting at the base. Antique Jade Green Cut French Opaline Flint Art Glass Covered Jar Box Bowl & Lid
This listing is for a jade green cut glass covered dish. I'm not sure if its a dresser box or sugar bowl. It is made of very heavy. High lead-content flint glass, and both lid and base ring like a bell. It is cut into 19 slightly concave panels, and the finial is convex cut. The uncut portion at the top of the foot, and connections of the base and finial show opalescence where the glass is transparent. I'm not sure if this jar is European/Bohemian, or American/Sandwich, etc. It measures 5 1/2" tall to the top of the finial, and about 4 1/2" across at the widest. The base and pontil are ground and polished, and the base shows heavy wear. The inside rim of the bowl has some small nicks and flakes, and an alignment"x" cut into it. The lid has a matching"x" The lid has a hairline cooling crack visible next ... moreto the finial. It is adjacent to a bubble inside, and there is no point-of-impact. 5" SAPPHIRE BLUE FRENCH GLASS BOWL MOORISH ART NOUVEAU OVERLAY OPALINE CABUCHONS
For your consideration. An exquisite piece of presumably French art glass, a sapphire blue glass bowl. We pored over the bowl under magnification and could not find a maker's mark or artisan's signature which is a pity: someone is deserving of recognition for such a nice piece of glass. The bowl has the approximate dimensions of 5" tall. 7" diameter at its fullest, and 5" diameter at the mouth. The bowl is best described as sapphire blue- or, perhaps, light cobalt blue- and is of a very clear quality. From the base to its widest point the bowl is fluted. From the widest point to the mouth the bowl is covered with an intricate overlay that has a raised. Almost metallic"feel" to it and ranges in color from gold to rose gold. The overlay has floral elements that have tiny opaline colored cabuchons as the flower ... morecenters. The overlay(in our opinion) combines elements of Art Nouveau and Moorish style.
