The entire stopper measures 6” The bottle(including silver collar) measures 9 ¾” This decanter weighs an impressive 4 lbs. 8 oz. I am not too familiar with patterns. But I can tell that this is a chain 16 point hobstar pattern. The bottom is marked with an 8 Point star within a 10 point star. There are not any chips or nicks to this decanter and stopper at all. The Coasters are one of the fanciest pairs I have sold in some time with lovely cast border designs and fine pierced patterns throughout. The Coasters also feature nice Carved Wood inserts to the bottoms. Mahogany I believe and they show good wear and age shrinkage as you want to find, but they have pins securing them in place so they are still solid and practical for modern use. The Coasters are unmarked as much earlier Victorian Silver never was but I am sure judging by the fine quality they were made by a reputable firm of the period. The Coasters show a nice dark patina with some wear throughout but no dents or cracks. Six shot size sipping glasses, and an oval under tray. The decanter and the glasses feature a sterling silver overlay in an Art Nouveau design, with a floral motif. The decanter has primarily irises, but also smaller petaled flowers inside a nouveau design. The glasses are varied- two have the irises, the other four have the smaller four-petaled flower. They are all the same size, just big enough for sipping sherry. They sit on an oval tray, also trimmed in silver along it's edge. Antique Victorian Silver Decanter Label for Hollands / Gin / Genever
This is an antique decanter label marked“Hollands” Hollands is another name for genever. A type of gin, or juniper flavoured spirit, which was very popular in Victorian times. I cannot date this label more precisely, because it is not hallmarked, but it clearly tests as silver and there is no sign anywhere of any base metal showing through. The label is oval shaped and is 5.8cm long and 3.8cm high. If you hold it on the top of the chain, it hangs 10cm deep. There is just the slightest tiny wee ding above the two letters l, so minute that it is impossible to photograph. Otherwise great condition. 1st Class signed for parcel within the UK is £2.00. Description: A stunning Heath& Middleton silver topped claret jug. A large example featuring silver top on a glass body. Handle is operated by the thumb to open lid when pouring. Each piece of silver is hallmarked for London 1897. The wire part of the handle is also marked with a registered design number. However due to being mis-struck only the lower part of the numbers are legible. Possibly a Christopher Dresser design- H&M are recognised Dresser design silversmith. Glass looks to be a replacement as there are no signs of age to the base and it is extremely clean overall. The item is available to be viewed in person at the Hungerford Antique Centre. 1909/10 SILVER LIDDED GLASS WHISKY NOGGIN complete with ORIGINAL DECANTER LABEL
On offer is a nice Edwardian whisky noggin with a hallmarked silver lid and a plain glass body with star cut base. Markings: the label is hallmarked HBJ&Co(H. B. Johnson) London, 1909/10. The lid is hallmarked HBJ&Co, Birmingham 1909/10. Approximate size: 108mm(4.25" to the top of the silver projection and 57mm(2.24" diameter at the base. Condition: glass- light wear to the base. No major chips or cracks, just the tiniest fleabites to the edge. Silver label– a little out of shape and fine wear to the surface commensurate with age. Lid- in excellent order with no damage, just light wear and partially rubbed hallmarks. Post and packing will be by Royal Mail Special Delivery at a cost of £6.95 within the UK. Check them all out. From matching online it looks to be circa first half of the 1800 and most likely a Georgian Decanter with facets cut into the neck and shoulders. It measures approx. 11" tall and 4" across its widest. With a circular hollow onion shaped stone ground stopper. Barrel shaped with six panels each containing two circles, one above the other, and curved cuts under the upper circles that give an impression of a head and two raised arms. The bottom is stone ground to create a flat area, and then it was cut with a wonderful star. This one also has a silver brandy tag, marked sterling, on a chain. There are surface scratches and some small flea bites that indicate that earlier in its life, it was put to good use. Good Luck! Sadly the chain is broken(but not missing so can be fixed) The shield is in very good condition and with a lovely shell and acanthus leaf border. This piece was made by George W. Shiebler Co around 1880-1895. The decanter is done in a nice swirled and fluted design. Typical of the Aesthetic Movement time period to which it dates. The stopper is certainly original to the piece. This is a fantastic piece of antique American silver work, and it has stood the test of time quite well. The underside of the piece is stamped'sterling' and with the hallmark for George W. Shiebler Co. This piece is in great overall condition. There are a couple of minor dents to the body and stopper. This is a beautiful cobalt blue. Silver overlay decanter set. One side of the decanter is a man in a gondola, on the other side is the town in the background. The decanter with the stopper in measures 8 1/2" tall. It measures about 3 1/2" in diameter. The cordials measures 2 1/8" tall. There is a chip on the inside top of the decanter, please see the last picture. There are a couple of tiny chips on the base of the stopper that are hard to see. One cordial has a spot on the rim where the silver is gone, possibly a light chip, please see the second picture. One cordial has a mark on each side in the silver on the base, please see the 3rd and 4th pictures. It's a lovely set. I am unsure of it's age.
