Here are two beautiful old metal cups brought back by an ANZAC nurse stationed in Egypt and Palestine during WWI. I have polished them on the outside to show their fine details. But the insides show green discoloration. The shortest one is thicker and heavier and features both brass and a silver colored metal. It's in lovely condition and measures 4" high. This is a beautiful matching pair of circa turn of the century French style carved limestone urns. They are in very good condition but one has a small chip on the inside rim and the other has a chip out of the foot on the side. They measure 13.5" tall. 9.25" in diameter and weigh 51.2 lbs each. This wonderful pair of antique figural vases was produced by the company of Lazarus Straus& Sons and feature a boy and a girl standing on stairs that wrap around the vases. Excellent form and decoration. The painting is very expertly done. Very intricate work. Although Lazarus Straus& Sons was based in Rudolstadt Germany they also had wares made in Limoges France and Carlsbad Austria so it possible they were produced there. Approx measurements are 10 1/2" tall(and 10 5/8" tall) and 6 1/2 wide at widest part. The boy was is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The girl vase leans a bit to one side as shown. It appears the base was possible chipped at the factory and shaved off to fix it. You can still see some minor chip like areas to the very bottom as shown however they have been painted over as shown. ... moreIf you look at the way the applied blue beads have been painted on base, you can see this all happened in the making. Other than the little lean, you do not really notice the bottom due to the way the vase is made with the large bulbous body. No other cracks, chips or repairs. Antique Pair of Beautiful Chinese vase, Enameled on brass, China Ca 1900
I am basing my description on what i have seen on the internet. The people i bought these from said that their uncle had bought these when he was over in asia during the vietnam war. I am not an expert but these do look very old. There was one listed for 250.00. Not sure if it sold for that price. Starting my bid low with no reserve. The one i saw on internet was under antiques. There is some writing on the vase but there is no markings on the bottom. THey are 8-1/4" tall and almost 4" across at the widest part. They weigh a little under 3 pounds. There is a ding on one. They are not in perfect condition but they are pretty old also.

There is age appropriate crazing on both pieces. This does not detract from the overall appearance- in fact. In my opinion it enhances it. They have a European look and feel to them though I am not certain as to their origin. They do not appear to be signed.
