This auction is for an Antique Ideal Canastota American Brilliant Period Cut Glass 7 1/4' inch plate in the Diamond Poinsettia with Butterfly pattern. The plate stands 1 1/4' inches from the base to the tip of the sawtooth. After careful inspcetion I can say that it is in very good condition with some small chips and flakes to the sawtooth rim. It is#425 of the heart group, from the second phase of the earliest period, as stated on page 257 of the book, American Glass Cup Plates by Ruth Webb Lee and James H. Rose. The cup plate is 3 3/8 inches in diameter and weighs 87.2 grams. The glass has a black particle(5th photo) and a cream-colored particle(6th photo) in the glass. Which was in the making. This pretty cup plate is in good condition for being so old. I believe it is from around the mid 19th century. It has a couple of obvious chips off of a couple of the scallops and then some rough edges on the rest which I believe is normal for these. This plate has 24 scallops and measures 3 7/8" across. Its rim is just a bit over 5/8" off the table. I am not knowledgeable in this area of glass. The Lee/Rose number was on this when I got it. Antique Goofus Glass 7&1/2" plate very old great condition early 1900's
This dish has minimal paint loss and I tried to show it in the light to detail the paint loss but this is overall a very nice dish and the paint loss is minimal. This dish measures 7&1/2" across the top. Goofus glass was made in the early 1900's and it is rare to find a piece with no paint loss as it was painted cold after it was cooled and the paint chips off very easily. It is quite beautiful glassware and some feel that it looks better without the paint altogether as it is very intricately detailed with pressed glass. It was made and sold at the Gillinder Factory that was part of the Philadelphia Exhibition of 1876. The plate is pressed glass. With lots of centennial symbolism- the Liberty Bell in the center, with the saying"Proclaim liberty throughout this land unto all the inhabitants thereof. Around the bell is"1776 Declaration of Independence 1876. Along the top of the rim(pic 4) is"100 Years Ago. The plate has a wonderful cut glass dish with star designs and a scallopped edge. It has a starburst in the middle. The stand is sterling silver and has a thick hand chased grapevine border. The stand is sterling silver and made by J. F. Fradley& Co. And stamped as such. It dates to 1890-1910. The plate is Anglo-Irish and dates to 1770-1800. These two pieces are in good. Useable condition. They are not original to each other but they fit together well. There are small chips and fleabites along the edge of the plate, but they are not very noticeable among the cut design. The stand is in great condition with no dings, dents or repairs.
