CLASSIFICATION: Ancient Roman Glass Unguentarium. ATTRIBUTION: Antiochia. Eastern Provincial Roman Empire(Syria) 2nd Century A.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 81 millimeters(3 1/4 inches) Bowl Diameter: 17 millimeters(2/3 inch) Top Lip Diameter: 24 millimeters(1 inch) Base Diameter: 12 millimeters(1/2 inch) Weight: 5.70 grams. CONDITION: Very good though bears evidence of a very neat. Professional repair. Minor scratches and scuffs consistent with use and then burial in soil. DETAIL: This is a very handsome. Complete second century A.D. Roman glass perfume bottle(or“unguentarium” which possesses a light iridescent burial patina with purple, pink, blue and green highlights. Most Roman glass vessels recovered complete(intact or repairable) are between 1½ and 3 inches in size– this one obviously exceeds the high end of this scale. However though complete, in a sense it is not intact. The glass perfume bottle was broken, whether in ancient times or perhaps when it was excavated, as there is a fairly clean break toward the bottom. The repair however seems to have been made with bitumen(tar) which would indicate that the repair was ancient. Some of the bitumen has been lost, so there is a small hole in the side of the bottle. But it appears to have been repaired and reused in ancient Rome– a rather uncommon find. Small jars. Pitchers, unguentariums, jugs, bottles, jars and flasks like this were used to contain aromatic oils, perfumes, medicinal ointments, and cosmetics. It is not to say that the Romans did not use larger pieces of glass on their tables such as bowls and cups; and even larger containers for transporting foodstuffs; because they did. In fact whatever the Romans had produced in clay in the first and second centuries B.C. was by the first and second centuries A.D. more common

It is a lovely opaque opaline white and is hand blown and has a partially ground pontil. Marked on bottom of bottle 64. It has its original dauber. Beautifully intact with what could be its original cotton. The bottle has no damage or repairs, it does show wear and scuffing on bottom consistent with age and use. The stopper is ground and measures 5 1/8" The bottle without stopper in is app. 4 7/8" with stopper stands 6" tall and 2 3/4" across bottom of bottle. These are tallest and widest points.

I don't usually say rare. But this is a great and hard to find bottle from the 1920's. It stands about 4 3/4" tall and still has the Schiaparelli New York label on the bottom, as well as lace trim, and PART of the signed tape measure across the mannequin's bodice. It is empty but still has an intense perfumy aroma. I have not attempted to remove the stopper.You can see, I think, that several of the flowers in the back are mostly broken off. Purchased at a local estate sale an antique perfume bottle- base is glass which is covered at the top in a sterling overlay and the hinged lid is sterling. Inside the lid the markings are a lion facing left and I believe the letter X. Also the inside of lid is covered with a gold wash. The overlay is a combination of a floral. Scroll and cherub design. Circa 1880 In wonderful condition. Not hallmarked as was so typical with these Antique Victorian scent bottles. The beautiful flat tubular glass is in lovely condition. The blue bottle is the most wonderful colour being the deepest of the cobalt shades with a hint of purple. With no chips or nibbles. The solid silver screw on lid has heavy repousse silver work of flowers& leaves. Absolutely stunning. I can feel a slight indentation to the lid where the tip of my finger rests when unscrewing the lid. This is very hard to see due to the ornate decoration to the lid. I mention for total accuracy. So rare to come across a pair of matching perfume bottles. This elegant pair are probably the most sought-after colour, Cranberry graduating down to a clearer glass at the base. The screw-top lids are made from English sterling silver, hallmarked for Birmingham 1896, making these true Victorian examples. The makers mark is also present CM for the silversmith, Charles Mappin. Vintage Antique? Silver Tone Small Ornate Flower Perfume Bottle - Glass Stopper
I don't really know anything about this piece. It appears to be a small metal perfume bottle with a glass stopper. There is a raised design on it that has flowers and leaves at the top and just some pretty designs towards the bottom half. I cannot get the top off and would be scared of breaking it to try too hard. So I cannot tell you what's inside, but it doesn't slosh or anything. I do not know if it is sterling silver or just a silver tone metal. It could be marked on the rim, but since I cannot get the top off, It does show some patina. And I wonder if at some time it had some kind of decorative cap over the glass stopper. It is fairly heavy and measures about 2 1/4 inches high. Seems to be in pretty good shape. Thanks for looking. Antique Stiegel Type 3-sided Glass Perfume Decanter Bottle Hand Painted Enamel
Up for auction is an unusual antique Stiegel type three sided perfume bottle or decanter with hand applied enamel scenes reminiscent of Pennsylvania Dutch farm life. This bottle has never been used. And has been stored in a cabinet at my family's Maryland farmhouse for generations. It cleaned up beautifully; the thick layer of dust must have kept the colors from fading. This old piece is very heavy, and makes a lovely noise like fine crystal when tapped. The stopper is very unique, with a large, controlled release bubble at its core. There is a gold"8" on the base. The glass bottle is in fantastic shape, with no chips or cracks noted. The stopper has a few chips& fleabites, but is still lovely. Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is a GREEN GLASS Perfume Bottle with Sterling Silver Overlay and Matching Stopper. The sterling overlay is in a nice Art Nouveau design. No missing sterling overlay to the glass bottle but there is a tiny split in the overlay on the stopper which may represent a small piece missing. It's hard to tell and I never even noticed it until I inspected it closely for selling. There are a couple very small cracks in the neck and one thin hairline in the glass bottle towards the bottom half. Again. Due to the silver overlay it is very hard to see but I did try to photgraph it for you. The bottle does hold water so the hairline is obviously not entirely through the glass and just on the inside as it is smooth on the outside. It is Czech cut glass featuring 2 distinct patterns: a waffle-type cut and leaf design; a gold colored(somewhat tarnished) top with an amber stone. The design is gorgeous with leaves and grapes(glass dots) This beauty measures 5.25" tall and the bulbous bottom measures 9" in circumference. It is hand blown and numbered on the bottom with the number"31" I don't see any other signatures. It is in excellent condition for its age. I am not positive that the stopper is original. Antique Bohemian Green Double Overlay Glass w Gilt Perfume / Cologne Bottle
An original antique 19th century Bohemian glass cut double overlay glass perfume or cologne bottle which stands approximately 6 1/4" tall. The bottle has a thin outer layer of light green glass cut through to an opaque white glass layer which in turn is cut through to the clear glass body. The panels are decorated with white enamel which was then gilted as well as having some thin gilt lines around all of the cut work etc. The item is in very nice all original undamaged condition with only some wear to the gilt from normal use. I love antique glass and have rescued many pieces throughout my life- even damaged. Today I'm selling what I called my"shelf of shames" all 5 pieces listed today have damage but all looked gorgeous on the shelf- a few well-placed flower arrangements and no one could tell! All of these pieces(except maybe the perfume) are American Victorian glass- valued in excellent condition in the $100's. According to some books I have. This gorgeous and unique perfume measures 4" tall(to top of handles) 3¼" wide and 2" deep. The unusual body has shades of pink swirls cased over white glass with impressed Daisy-type flowers on each side, diagonal ribs and clear applied handles. The bottom edge has been polished. As the photos show, the obvious(and only) damage is the top- basically gone so the stopper does not sit up ... morestraight. This beauty looks stunning despite its flaws! A antique R Lalique glass perfume atomizer from I believe 1910-1920 in fantastic condition. There are no chips or nicks to the glass and there are very few scratches on the bottom surface underside. This was a very well taken care of bottle. The screw on top is also in good condition with it still being very gold. It is however missing the small metal nozzle on the top as you can clearly see in the pics. It measures 5 inches tall.

A pair of antique French opaque gray art glass perfume/scent bottles. From the base to the top of the stopper they measure 8-7/8" tall. Enameled white dot trim on stopper as well as gold accent. Hand painted design on each bottle is absolutely beautiful. Raised enamel on the petals and leaves. Beautiful detail on the butterflies. These bottles are in good condition with no cracks in the glass. There is a very tiny chip on one of the stopper at the very top where the white accent dots are placed. Very slight wear to some of the gold trim at the edges. These imperfections do not take way from the beauty of these pieces. They are really lovely antique collectibles! No maker's mark. Looks like the bottle was mold blown. the black decoration on bottle is paint enamel and NOT transfer. as you can see in photos the bulb atomizer is apart from the top section of bottle. Stands about 7 1/8 ins. tall. the squeezie bulb is NOT dry rotted. You can squeeze with ezzzzz.
