She had a good eye for rare/unusual things and above all seemed to like cute little dishes. All show normal wear(for example. Crazing, loss of color in places, discoloration, rub marks on the bottom and around the rim) and most show imperfections that almost certainly occurred during manufacture(for example, uneven glazing, tiny bumps, misplaced ink) I’ll point out anything that strikes me as obvious or noteworthy in terms of condition– chips. Cracks, repairs and other signs of mistreatment. Keep in mind however that I have an untrained eye. So please look closely at the photos. The pattern is a match to the oval dishes on my other auction. The largest serving dish has a diameter of 9 inches from handle to handle and is 5.5 inches high to the top of the rope finial. The smaller round butter dish is 6.5 inches in diameter and 4 inches high. The bottoms are impressed with an English Registry Mark. Hard to read. The Coffee/Tea pot with the lid on is just under 1.5 inches tall. Some of the gold trim may have worn away. Note also that one of the cups is missing its saucer. This set has been damaged and repaired in the past. The Tep Pot has had a repair. The spout was broken off at some at the past and reglued. A first for me. I have never had or seen a pair of silverplated Entree dishes with these wonderful and unusual removable carrying handles, a perfect invention for to carry really hot dishes. The shaped handles are removed easily by sliding off at each end and can be used with the lids on or off. Each of the fluted lids has a most attractive handle with a foliate design and again are removable allowing for the lids to also double up as open serving dishes. Three c1906 Antique Porcelain Egg Cups from Gilded Age Schooner Yacht Savarona I Up for auction is a group of three(3) fine porcelain egg cups with gilded trim and hand painted nautical flags. These egg cups are in excellent antique condition with no chips. No cracks and no repairs. There is some mild fading of the painted flags and some minor loss of gold trim. Though unmarked as to maker. These are most likely Limoges or Minton's china as these egg cups were once in service in the Gilded Age yacht known as the"Savarona" On each egg cup. The leftmost flag is the burgee of the Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia. The rightmost flag is the signal flag of the schooner yacht"Savarona" which was commissioned in 1903 by the wealthy banker Clarence Howard Clark. Jr. of Philadelphia. The Savarona was a 58 gross ton. 93 foot(or 115 foot as reported by one reference) primarily wooden sailing schooner with auxillary gasoline powered engines. It was designed by Arthur Binney. Built at Lawley's in South Boston and launched in 1906. It had a very finely appointed interior which incorporated materials such as teak. Mahogany and tapestries. The interior included luxury staterooms and even a common room with space intended to accommodate a piano. Clark sailed the Savarona in many racing events and pleasure boating excursions during 1906 and 1907. Ownership of the Savarona tranferred to George S. Runk in 1907. The Savarona was eventually acquired by the U.S. Navy in May 1917 for use in World War I and at that time was commissioned as the USS Margaret. It was sold by the U.S. Navy in 1919 following the war. This is a very nice antique copper sterilizer that was used to hold glass petri dishes. There are no dishes included. Just the sterilizer. There are a few dents to the container but the inside holder slides in and out without hang up and the lid goes on easily. There is one identifying mark on the container but I can not verify the name. There is a capital letter B which is surrounded by a circle. Antique Victorian wood apothecary pharmacy scale. There is a hinged lid that is glass on the top to see the scale. The Lid is surrounded by wood for protection. The bottom has a marble top. Brass pointed scale with stainless trays for measuring. There is a screw at the front that makes the scale go up and down. Turn right to use as scale; left for stationary. The scale measures 14" long x 7" wide and 7" tall. It is pink in color. Unsure if it was painted from the wood. Pair of Antique Sterling Silver& Bristol Blue Glass Table Salt Cellars or Sauce Dishes dated 1912 Each salt or sauce dish measures approximately 2 3/ 4 inches or 71 mm across its length from end to end by just under 1 5/8 inches or 42 mm across its width from side to side and it stands just under 1 5/8 inches or 40 mm tall to the top of its liner rim. The salt cellars or sauce dishes are made from sterling silver in oval shapes with stepped upper and lower rims that are either side of their delightful pierce decorated bodies and each salt or sauce dish stands on four ball shaped feet. The salt or sauce dishes are both complete with their original snug fitting internal Bristol blue glass liners and they have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below. The side of each one has been impressed ... morewith a matching full set of English sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, G.N over R.H- Lion Passant- Three Wheat Sheaves- stylized M G.N over R.H is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark of George Nathan& Ridley Hayes. We are pleased to offer a fine set of FIVE antique Japanese porcelain sauce dishes made in the 19th century. diameter each: 3 1/8" Elegant hand painted porcelain small dishes. Each has a molded shape and rim. And all are colorfully decorated in Kakiemon style with a design featuring a blue bird and flowering tree branch with a red geometric border below another border with blue circular devices. The rims and some details are gilt. The backsides are decorated with blue panels and cloud motif. The bottom has an endless knot in blue. Great small dishes for sauces when serving sushi or similar seafoods. From a California estate and offered with all pieces in very good antique condition. No damage or repair, and no cracks or chips. Eleven Antique 1861 Elsmore & Forster Ceres 5 1/2" Sauce Monkey Dishes Ironstone
You are bidding on eleven(11) 5 1/2" inch sauce dishes from a large set I will be listing. I have it broken down into manageable lots for shipping. One dish has a hairline halfway through it. The other ten are in excellent condition. All are marked with the round Elsmore Forster mark. No chips. Cracks or discolorations on them except for the one with the hairline I mentioned. Still a little dust. The copper luster on all of them is fine with no wear at all. The registration diamond within the Elsmore Forster mark dates to 1861. Be sure to check out all the pictures. The tops of both have been polished leaving a minimal patina with a shiny Copper appearance. The Plates stand about 1-1/8 inches high and are 11-1/4 inches in ... morediameter. One weighs just a bit over 1 pound. While the other is only 14 ounces. No manufacturer markings are found on either piece. Both plates have a dark patina on their underside. Along with some label remnants. The top surface has a light patina with some areas of verdigris in the groove that runs around the diameter of the lower section. Both show some light dents, bumps, and surface scratches as would be expected on older pieces. We rate the condition of both as very good(see pictures) These are two delightful Arts& Crafts era Copper Plates. They would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
