The main feature of any piece of glass is the fine work and engraving. Do not discard a piece for reasons of imperfection. Truly antique glass is harder and harder to find over time. Antique Baccarat Cut Glass Cologne/ Scent Bottle- WOW! This is a gorgeous cut glass scent bottle by Baccarat. Hand cut in a diamond point pattern. It is found in the 1903 Baccarat catalog of Dressing Table Articles, and is part of the Series F 421 line, article number T-1609. I have included a picture of the catalog page. It is in very good condition, with only a couple of small dings to points in the pattern, and a very shallow flake to the edge before the neck begins. I wasn't able to capture any of this in a picture, and truly only discovered any of these small flaws while I was meticulously cleaning over 100 years of gunk off the thing using alcohol and a q-tip. It has a hand painted floral design in ivory. Blues& greens. For the most part it is frosted glass but does have clear, smooth cut windows also. The detail around the"windows" and the hand painting is impressive. I notice only one flower with damage to the enamel and I have shown that in the photos for you. It is not very noticeable and appears just the top layer of enamel chipped off. No other major damage to the enamels that I can see. The paintings are very intact and the colors vibrant. Vintage or Antique Clear Glass Large Perfume Bottle No. 4711 Eau de Cologne 7"
Here is a very unusual in it's size and shape glass bottle that is marked 4711. It was a very popular perfume years ago. The bottom is marked Made in USA. The large bottle originally had a cork stopper. It stands about 7" high(larger than others I've seen) and has a 2 3/4" width and the mouth is about 1 1/2" diameter. I don't know how much it holds. The only flaw I see is normal small bubbles in the glass and a small line inside the glass where my finger is pointing in the last photo(scroll over. Right before the inside line is an outside scratch I can see and feel with my finger. However the line I am pointing to does not have any roughness to the touch. Just the scratch. Antique Victorian Bristol Brown Chocolate Opalescent Perfume Cologne Bottle
Up for auction is a chocolate brown opalescent perfume or cologne bottle with stopper. The color is very unusual and shows a lot of fire when held to a bright light. The piece stands about 5 3/4" high with the stopper in place and measures about 2 1/2" across at it widest point. It is in excellent condition as there are no chips. Cracks, hairlines or repairs.
