It is a four piece process glass, suggesting it is older, but I do not know the exact age. An Ebay shopper wrote me to say he thinks it is from the 1960's. A late 19th century Victorian period vase. It is produced in black glass which is opaque and features a pedestal style foot and upturned rim. The vase is unmarked but typical of Bohemian production made for export around the 1870-90 period. The vase is hand painted with floral subjects including rose buds and lily-of-the-valley. The enamel is done in high relief giving a textured effect. The reverse of the vase is left plain. The vase has a high gloss finish to the black ground. Lovely set of French opaline vases! Set of three opaline vases. They are made around 1900-1910. Very stylish set. The color is a nice beige color. They are handmade. The pictures in the middle are transfer painted and the surroundings are hand painted with enamel paint. On the top they have lovely frilly details. Also hand made. Opaline glass is coloured glass, that is coloured solid and not on the surface. In the daylight it has a lovely glow in the glass, see the photo. They are still in great condition. First Mark: Signed G.A.S. on the lower left. Second Mark: Signed to the right of that. The Diana Head mark for 1867 with 2 on the left(for 900 Silver) and an A(for Vienna) on the right. The glass is a smoky color and does have some flea bites on the corner edge. It measures about 5 1/4" high, 1 3/16' across top outer and about 1 7/16" across the base. The Inventory notes references the reference book“Lee’s Victorian Glass” plate 230. This item was purchased by the family during an antique auction in 1980 at the MD St. John’s Antique Show. The piece is thought to be either Mt. Washington or perhaps Stevens and Williams- however- the piece was not signed nor is the actual date of creation known- only the period the piece was made. For your consideration I have a hand or mold blown pontil scared vase It is unlike any I have seen or owned I purchased this from an estate auction. It looks to me to be some sort of cross between carnival glass( because of the pattern) pressed glass? It could also have started to be a bottle as I have seen bottles like this and the maker decided to ruffle the top? I just am not certain of any of this. Antique Cranberry Glass Pedestal Vase With Frosted White & Gold
This thin and delicate frosted white pedestal glass vase has a cranberry glass foot and collar showing beautiful gold iridescence. It features a large stem-and-leaf emblem done in cranberry and gold on one side and a much smaller emblem in the same colors on the other side. I am unsure of its age but it looks Victorian or early 1900s to me. It stands 11 1/2" high and is nearly 3 1/2" across at the top. It is in very good condition. With no chips, cracks or scratches. The gold trim shows some wear and there is what looks like a manufacturing flaw. A very small(less than 1/8" in diameter) bump" in the glass to the lower-right of the large emblem, which extends through the vase and can be seen on the inside as well. S/H includes insurance. Antique Bohemian Amber Glass Pokal/vase Stone Cut c.1860 Description: Beautiful German Bohemian glass pokal(that could serve as a vase) manufactured in 1860s. Hand blown and stone-cut to create optical facets. This technique was very common during late 1860s- early 1870s. The glass drinking vessel were blown with very thick walls and then cut very intensively to create facets and decorations. The steins of this kind came mostly from Bohemia- now Czech Republic. This technique was very labor-intensive and also quite dangerous for the cutters due to the large amount of glass dust. It was completely abandoned in late 1870s leaving us with very few examples of this massive and specially crafted glass beauties. The pokal first stone cut to the shape with facets. ANTIQUE MEDICAL INHALER EMBOSSED GLASS Oakland Chemical Company Great Condition with a some chipping on the top rim(see pics) Air BuBbleS and wAvY gLaSS The Oakland Chemical Company(New York) was active in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Their main product appears to have been Dioxogen which was hydrogen peroxide and they advocated its use for many medicinal and domestic purposes. In the late 1890s tuberculosis was a great problem and so was pandemic influenza. Medical companies were unregulated and they could promote new products without safety or efficacy data. So there were many strange ideas floating about. It could be that the Oakland Chemical Company sought to extend the utility of Dioxogen through inhalation? Antique cobalt vase in silver plated mounting probably Sheffield. The silver mount has a small indentation at the edge which has a mark in it. I can't make out the mark. It does look like a W in combination with another letter. The vase stands 6 inches high and is 2-1/8 inches in diameter. The cobalt insert does slide out for cleaning. DESCRIPTION: This is an antique glass bud vase from around the 1800's that measures 6 1/4" tall. The highly reflective surface played havoc with the camera. The bottom shows the true color of the silver over the entire piece. It was hand painted with white leaves and design with colored flowers. There are no chips. Cracks or stains, but there is surface paint and decoration loss. Mercury glass(or silvered glass) is glass that was blown double walled, then silvered between the layers with a liquid silvering solution, and sealed. Although mercury was originally used to provide the reflective coating for mirrors, elemental mercury was never used to create tableware. Silvered glass was free-blown, then silvered with a solution containing silver nitrate and grape sugar(glucose) in solution, heated, then closed. Measurements: 6 1/4 in diameter across the top edge of the bowl x 5 inch height The bowl is a very pale shade of pink with a peach/ carnival-glass type luminescence. It is not like the popular carnival glass with a bright gold hue. Nor does it have a brand mark on it. It has a pretty fluted. Sunburst design cut into the base that you can see in the photos, however, the inside of the bowl is smooth. It is over 40 years old and quite strong- it's survived a few'oops! over the years. It has small surface scratches and little bumps from how the glass was manufactured(it is wavy like an old window. There are some scuffs around the middle. But there are no chips. There is a surface scratch about an inch long(please see below) but is not sharp and nor is it very noticeable. It is great for displaying seashells.
