It sits on two marble type columns possibly made of travertine not for sure but they are also heavy. There is a bar that fits into the two columns to brace the glass top. Measurements: 41-3/4" wide x 72" long x 28-1/2" tall This gorgeous table will set off any room. It is in good vintage condtion. There is a nick or two on a couple of the corners of the glass and few scratches but nothing major and not really noticable. There are also some chips on a couple of the corners of the columns as shown in the pictures and a couple of the tiny rubber/plastic pieces that were on the top of the columns where the glass rest on missing. I may have the beveled glass upside down when pictures were taken but due to the size and weight of this table and the limited space I was unable to flip it over but it really shows the thickness of this glass and the beautiful bevel on it. Vintage Mid Century Modern IBM Metal Telephone Table d. Eliot Noyes Nightstand
For auction is one amazing little telephone table from the mid-1950s. It was designed by Eliot Noyes for use in the IBM corporate offices. In addition to spending twenty-one years working as consultant design director for IBM(designing the IBM Selectric typewriter in 1961 among many other products) Noyes was also a notable architect of the 20th century modern period in American architectural history. He was a member of the Harvard Five, a group of modern architects who practiced in New Caanan, CT, and also served as curator of industrial design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Despite its strong lines. This is a diminutive little table. It stands 22.25" tall, and the white laminate top is 15.5" wide by 13.5" deep. The storage space is 11.25" wide and deep, and 3" tall. It rolls on three shiny caster with black ... moreball-type wheels. There are a few small scratches on the top(pictured) and one corner in the laminate on the back of the table is chipped(pictured) The storage space is a metal tray painted in a matte gray finish, and the legs are steel painted a satin black. Vintage Branded Monterey Chairside Lamp Table c. 1950s
My uncle. Clif Spens, and his wife, Viva, owned and operated the La Loma Lodge motel in Montecito(Santa Barbara) from about the mid-50s. I have family photos of La Loma going back to 1956, and visited with my family in the 1960s. After my uncle's death, Viva continued to operate the motel, but because of Highway 101, which bypassed the Coast Highway location, business was slow. In a letter to Cliff's cousin in June, 1968, she wrote: Just a note to say I think I've sold— almost afraid to say it out loud. It's not as good(a price) as I should(get) But.I just can't take it much longer.I'll get a first trust deed of $77,000 at 7% to be paid in full in 15 years.Right now and for the weekend there are three bulldozers, two water trucks and a road scraper parked right in front, so the) driveway is closed. This is the weekend ... moreeverything is usually full, but I have 6 in.The whole strip is a mess; they say Von's, the new market, is down in sales $3000 a week, and this won't be finished until late Sept. When Clif's sister Laurine passed away in suburban Detroit. I inherited a branded Monterey combination table and lamp. I suspect it came from La Loma Lodge. A vintage furniture dealer in California told me it was probably designed for motel use. And I think Clif's sisters and their husbands had invested in the motel, so they may have taken some of the furniture when Viva sold the place. Cava restaurant now occupies what was the office and Spenses' home. And the motel units have become offices and studio apartments. Carlos Lopez-Hollis at Cava told me that when his family opened Cava in 1997, it had already been converted into a restaurant. I think before it became Cava, it was Acacia restaurant and bar. lAntique Scottish Drop Leaf Dining Room Table Cabinet Rare Design~Spring Operated Gate Legs~Cabinet Ends Large 3' X 5' Scottish Drop Leaf Gate Leg Cabinet(exact dimensions 57" X 39" Folds down to 18" wide. This is one of my favorite style tables. Its a table. No its a cabinet, no its a table cabinet! You just do not see furniture made this way anymore. This particular table is oak and has storage at both ends. On one end is a door with storage and a shelf. On the other end is another cabinet with a door and a utensil drawer. Even more rare and unusual are the spring operated gate legs and string pulls. most drop leaf tables with gate legs require you reach under and manually pull the legs out to support the leaf- notice this table has string pulls hanging from each end. The legs are spring operated so when you life ... morethe leaf the leg pops out into position. When you want to fold the table down you pull the strings and retract the legs. The strings are in very good condition and work well. The springs work pretty well too. One end pops right out when you lift the leaf, the other end requires just a little bit of help and it pops out into position as well, both ends work as designed when you want to fold the leafs up- just lift the leaf and pull the string to withdraw the legs and then drop the leaf. I also like it when a old piece like this has a makers tag and the patent tags because it is a lot easier to prove the age of the piece- this one has"pat applied for" and has the makers tag"A.C.W. Up for sale is my Baker Hollywood Regency style faux bamboo brass and glass coffee table! The brass oval framed glass top is in good condition. The beveled brass frame does show some aging and some wear and slight tarnish, which is pictured, overall the brass is in very good condition, considering its age, but please look at the pictures for more details on the brass. The faux bamboo looks like a maple tone that has been slightly distressed. The table is in very good condition, there is some very slight nicks on the legs, which are all pictured. There is also some small nicks on the part of the table in which the glass sits, which is also pictured. Measures 28 1/2" in diameter and about 16" high. Has the original Herman Miller sticker on the bottom. Good vintage condition. Does have some damage to the bottom portion of the table's edge(see pics below) The black laminate top is still in good shape despite the dings on the edge. You really have to look closely at the perfect angle to see the damage to the underside edge. The laminate does have some light scratches which is to be expected of a piece of this age. Overall. This table features a gorgeous parquet top with gold and white legs and apron in a Hollywood Regency style. The table dates back to the 1960's and belongs to a friend of mine whose mother bought it new in the 60's. The table measures 25" square x 21.75" high and the Baker nameplate is attached under the table top. This end table is in excellent overall condition with a few dings on the legs(see pics#6-9 for close-ups) and the top is in excellent condition as well. It was covered with glass to protect the top for most of it's life however expect a few light scratches and dings as the finish is original.
