Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable and I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. This antique file cabinet is finished on the back and front so that it can be left out in the middle of the office and be used as a room divider. The drawers measure 15.25 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 10.75 inches tall on the drawer face. Most people put hanging file frames in the drawers nowadays, but you can use it as it is with legal size documents. Each one has the Library Sole Maker brass tag on front. It probably came out of a government office as it has a serial number tag on one side. The other side has a tag saying it came out of a commercial building.

Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? This is a vintage wooden library card catalog cabinet with six drawers. Drawers have brass handles. Perfect for storing craft supplies. Small tools, household items, recipes, apothecary items, and the like.I`m not positive on the maker, but there was a card inside that says Texwood, but I`m not totally sure.The box and drawer fronts are oak, the drawers are plastic and the guides are metal, the hardware is brass. I`m not sure on the age, but I`m guessing 70`s, and it is very heavy for it`s size. A couple of the rods are missing(see photo) But otherwise this is in very good condition. Some marks and scratches as to be expected from normal wear and tear.

Antique 2 Drawer Oak Library Index Card File Cabinet Remington Rand
Up for bid are two. Antique two drawer Remington Rand library filing cabinets. The drawers are original to the cabinets, but the handles were changed out at some point. One drawer does not have a handle. There are some markings on the exterior and the cabinets are showing some age, but overall they are in great shape. The original index card holder hardware has been removed, but the drawers still slide perfectly. These belonged to my grandpa and we believe he got them from the U.S. Military during WW2. There is a tag on both cabinets that states U.S. Government property. These would be an excellent addition to anyone's collection, or be perfect for crafts or office storage. This is a really nice American Oak Library Card Catalog index file. Made by the Clarke and Baker company in Ilion, New York around 1915 to 1920. The vivid quartersawn oak wood grain patterns are just great, and the case is made with high quality dovetail construction. The four drawers all have their original adjustable card supports and hold standard 3" by 5" index cards. These files don't come along very often in as nice a condition as this one. Solid white oak. All original cabinet components. I had this professionally cleaned and conditioned to maintain the finish. The wood is beautiful. And the edges of the cabinet still show some age, while being smooth and properly finished to last. All of the internal metal components are still present, all of the hardware is original and the dovetailed drawers are in fantastic condition. Vintage Library Card Catalog File Drawers No Hardware Hardwood OAK MAPLE ?
For sale are what I believe to be Oak(Maybe Hard Maple) drawer fronts from a vintage library card catalog(They are definitely some type of hardwood) These were removed from a built in cabinet at a local middle school library which was being renovated. The hardware has been removed. But I do have some similar ones in another listing with hardware(The brass sleeve for the rod is still there) There is some normal wear on the items, but they are all in great lightly used condition. Great looking antique oak card catalog and file cabinet. May have been in a library or office. Has interesting open frame design. Has 5 drawers. First drawer is for cards. Second is plain drawer, other three are file drawers. Has rollers in frame to make drawers easier to open and close. Card file drawer and file drawers have adjustable dividers. It's in vintage condition and has years of normal wear. Some of the wood is split from shrinkage. I believe all the hardware is original except the bottom drawer handle and some screws. Vintage Wood (Oak) Library Card Catalog Drawer Front Solid Brass Hardware
One(1) library card catalog drawer front with what appears to be brass handle and rod holder. These were removed from a damaged library card catalog from a school. These are solid wood and appear to be Oak. They measure 5 11/16" wide by 3 3/4" tall by 3/4" thick. The brass opening for the rod is 13/32" wide. These are used. But in very nice condition! They could be left as is or refinished to match missing or damaged drawers. Shipping is $6.50 for the first and $3 for each additional purchased.

Stunning Gaylord Brothers 4 Drawer Oak Library Card Catalog. This piece is in excellent condition and is a great example of American craftsmanship beckoning back to when products were built to last. Please review photos for condition. Overall in near mint condition. There are a few marks on the top and side but this piece. This is one of the nicest card catalogs I’ve ever come across. I believe this to be Oak(possibly tiger) wood with dovetail construction on the box and on the drawers. Pulls and label holders are brass and there is a small brass manufacturers tag on the front. Center bottom. Box measures: 13 ¾ in wide X 17 in long X 9 ¼ in tall Drawers measure: 5 5/8 in. wide X 3 7/8 in. tall. All mechanisms are in place. Brass rods and backer slides. Very heavy. Very sturdy. Weighs around 30 lbs. These units are getting harder ... moreand harder to find. Don’t pass up on this one!
