I suspect that it was once the top portion of a larger piece, but this cabinet is all that remains now. It is in remarkably good condition, with only very minimal surface scratches from general use. The cabinet has a sort of crown molding around the top. There is some small veneer loss at the back of the side edges, as can be seen in the photos. These areas are on the sides, but at the back of the piece. The molding around the top has beautiful symmetric carved detail. There is some slight separation at the corners of the top molding. This detail matches the carved details on the front trim of the door. The shelves inside are static, and do not adjust.

The mirror is 18" tall and 14" wide.There is a chip on one corner of one shelf and and small crack on the other shelf. It has been painted white some time ago. Up for auction is a Shabby Chic white medicine. Curio 2 glass shelve cabinet. This cabinet is not made by the Shabby Chic company. The measurements are 16 1/2 height by 13 3/4 width and 7 inch depth inches. I would say this was built before the fifties but I'm not sure. It is heavy and I'm not sure what kind of wood. Vintage Antique Floral Etched Mirrored Medicine Cabinet w/ 2 Orig Glass Shelves
This is a nice original antique metal medicine cabinet with floral etched frameless mirrored door. Inside are two of the original thick glass shelves in good condition. Both with a slightly thicker ridge along the edge to help keep things from rolling or falling off the shelf. The door latch still holds the door shut. The door opens smoothly, the shelves slide in and out and can be re-positioned, and the mirror looks very good, has a slight bevel all the way around, and there is no cloudiness, only a little minor flaking of silver backing along the edges. There is one small chip missing from the glass on the lower left corner. The old white paint on the inside and sides of the cabinet is slightly darkened from age and has some chips and scuffs. There are two small metal brackets; one on the inside of the cabinet and one on the inside surface ... moreof the door that look like they might have once held a part that would stop the door from opening all the way, but that part is no longer attached. This cabinet would need to be installed in a wall. The back part that would fit into the wall measures 13" L x 4 1/4" W x 16 5/8" H. The mirror measurements are 16" W x 21 3/4" H. It will be packed very well and insured during shipping.
