$60.00 Shipping Condition: Used Location: Mooresville, United States This is an old favorite of mine.Small enough to be very versatile.My mother was a librarian and I have her large 60 and 72 drawer units from her library ... morebut this guy is a real treasure.The larger units are from the 60s, this guy with it's dovetailed joints goes back to the 1890s. Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable and I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. You are looking at a vintage 15 drawer library card catalog cabinet. It is a solid well built piece that has tons of repurposing possibilities! It has a walnut finish. The top is walnut veneer, which has some chipping and the one side has some marks that look like a child's doodling. The cabinet comes apart into four sections for easy moving. Each section has 15 drawers. There is also a base/riser section. Two pull-out table sections, and a top cap. There is a mix of wood and plastic drawer bodies. I would guess that two of the units came with wood drawers and two were added later with plastic drawers. All of the drawer faces are the same, though if you look very closely the guide rod is slightly different in appearance. One guide rod is missing and a couple are loose or slightly bent. The top of the cabinet shows some wear. Great looking antique oak card catalog and file cabinet. May have been in a library or office. Has interesting open frame design. Has 5 drawers. First drawer is for cards. Second is plain drawer, other three are file drawers. Has rollers in frame to make drawers easier to open and close. Card file drawer and file drawers have adjustable dividers. It's in vintage condition and has years of normal wear. Some of the wood is split from shrinkage. I believe all the hardware is original except the bottom drawer handle and some screws. Looks like it may have been refinished at some time. It measures 52" inches tall, 15" inches wide and 25" inches deep. I have included almost 20 pictures below so you can judge it's condition. Stunning Gaylord Brothers 4 Drawer Oak Library Card Catalog. This piece is in excellent condition and is a great example of American craftsmanship beckoning back to when products were built to last. Please review photos for condition. Overall in near mint condition. There are a few marks on the top and side but this piece. This is one of the nicest card catalogs I’ve ever come across. I believe this to be Oak(possibly tiger) wood with dovetail construction on the box and on the drawers. Pulls and label holders are brass and there is a small brass manufacturers tag on the front. Center bottom. Box measures: 13 ¾ in wide X 17 in long X 9 ¼ in tall Drawers measure: 5 5/8 in. wide X 3 7/8 in. tall. All mechanisms are in place. Brass rods and backer slides. Very heavy. Very sturdy. Weighs around 30 lbs. These units are getting harder ... moreand harder to find. Don’t pass up on this one!
