A Great Antique Shaw Walker 4 drawer wooden filing cabinet. It has the dovetail joints and the"Shaw Walker" name on the top. One drawer has the metal card holder. The other 3 do not. Please see pictures) There are two slight cracks in the bottom of two drawers. It does have wear consistent with it's age. There are knicks. Marks, dings, finish loss, a crack here or there, and the one side does have a black substance(looks to be old glue from some type of label) on it, as seen in the picture. The pulls are wooden with a screw in the center. The pulls appear to be old cut wood thread spools, 2 are from the old Berksire& Beckett Silk Co, one has some type of"Clark" label worn off& the 4th is unmarked. There is one round hole underneath the the pull of both the top& bottom right drawers. I also had a question ... moreabout the stain on the bottom, I am not sure if it is oil or water. Bottom has 4 round metal feet& is engraved with the number"350" The cabinet measures approx. 14 1/2" long(not including drawer face or pulls) X 9 1/2" tall X 13 5/8" wide. Indiana was a turn of the century cabinet company that made filing cabinets of assorted shapes and sizes This is a very solid piece of craftsmanship. Dovetailed joints and very rich rustic looking wood and hardware. There are some scratches on it but it only to me adds to the character. I am not certain the wood it is made from. When researching it I get a few different answers so I will just say it is a very solid piece of wood. 25LBS. It in 15 1/2 deep. 13 1/2 wide, 9 3/4 tall. Very nice piece for display. Mid Century 15 Drawer Card Catalog - Blonde Wood
This listing is for a classic old school card catalog. It has 15 drawers. Each measuring 5 1/2 inches wide. Each one has brass hardware and the index divider on the inside. Overall the unit measures 34" L x 17" W x 13.25" H and is ungodly heavy. It has blonde wood siding except for the top which is composite. It was clearly meant to be a stacking unit. This would look great as a piece of furniture with a new top. It's in very sturdy shape with typical scratches and a few nicks. The siding is chipped in a few minor places but nothing that can't be filled in. One of the drawers is missing it's pin in the pictures but I've since found it so it is complete. The cabinet comes apart into four sections for easy moving. Each section has 15 drawers. There is also a base/riser section. Two pull-out table sections, and a top cap. There is a mix of wood and plastic drawer bodies. I would guess that two of the units came with wood drawers and two were added later with plastic drawers. All of the drawer faces are the same, though if you look very closely the guide rod is slightly different in appearance. One guide rod is missing and a couple are loose or slightly bent. The top of the cabinet shows some wear. Antique handmade five drawer spice box or chest. This primitive wood box has dove tail joints and looks like it is mostly glued. Except for a few old nails here and there. The knobs are old porcelain and a couple are not attached. The chest is missing one knob. I'm not sure if the pulls are original to the chest, they may be replacements. Vintage 1940's-50's Wood 3 Drawer Bank File Cabinet
This file cabinet is from the late 1940's or early 1950's and was used in a bank until the mid 1960's when it was taken out of service. My father was an employee of the bank and all employees had the opportunity to purchase out of service equipment. He purchased 2 of these cabinets and painted them beige and used them as night stands. The original color was a dark wine similar to the inside of the drawers as seen in last picture. They were finished with a coat of varnish. My father used 2 coats of beige paint and the original wine finish was still bleeding through the beige. The knobs on the drawers are the original ones. Measurements are: 30" tall. 13" long on the cabinet part(top is 14" long) 14" wide. I have taken pictures from different angles to give a complete picture of the overall condition. You are viewing an original 2 piece hard wood antique step back cupboard. It has two wavy glass doors with three shelves for china. It has eight small cubby holes at the bottom for letters. Etc. there are four nice drawers above these with original pulls. One pull is missing. There are three dove tailed drawers on the bottom. the top one being the smallest. They have original wooden knobs. There is a charming fold out piece with pull out support under the doors for writing. The left door is missing a piece of hardware/latch. They do have a key hole as do the drawers. But are missing the key. There is a small area on one side where a sliver of wood has been regaled. Acquired this about 20 years or so ago from a guy who said his father a cabinet maker had made it but don't remember in what year anymore. I have always used it out in the garage for small parts. Nuts, bolts, washers, etc. that you would find in a working garage. So does have some oil or grease stains, some lower drawers are sticky so might have to do a quick planing on the tracks, upper drawers work much smoother, has 16 total. Some have dividers, some are wide open. All is made of mostly plywood I think except each knob is a machined knurled grip round shape. Can see quite a bit of work and time was put into it many moon ago and has served me well over the years but no longer fooling with bikes so is up for sale now. Stunning Gaylord Brothers 4 Drawer Oak Library Card Catalog. This piece is in excellent condition and is a great example of American craftsmanship beckoning back to when products were built to last. Please review photos for condition. Overall in near mint condition. There are a few marks on the top and side but this piece. This is one of the nicest card catalogs I’ve ever come across. I believe this to be Oak(possibly tiger) wood with dovetail construction on the box and on the drawers. Pulls and label holders are brass and there is a small brass manufacturers tag on the front. Center bottom. Box measures: 13 ¾ in wide X 17 in long X 9 ¼ in tall Drawers measure: 5 5/8 in. wide X 3 7/8 in. tall. All mechanisms are in place. Brass rods and backer slides. Very heavy.
