The broken-arch pediment is striking and unusual. The thin arms lifting from the molded top in a cresting wave, curling into fine inlaid pinwheel rosettes; these opposing waves of the pediment flank a fine inlaid pointed urn finial raised on a plinth base of conforming inlay. The arched door is crafted with through-tenon joinery, the fragile corners supported with butterfly dovetails on the inside(possibly later) it features twelve glazed panels framed in scratched-bead walnut astragals, opening on original hinges to reveal a shelved interior. Each shelf is channeled to display plates and platters, the front edge of each shelf molded, one shelf crafted to hold utensils in the front edge. The case has outstanding proportions. These eased by the thick molding around the waist and the inlaid band around the shoulders- this easily divides the visual planes of the piece into graduated levels that are easier for the eye to digest. The bottom of the case has a pair of solid walnut doors framed in a matching inlaid band, each embellished with inlaid shield escutcheons to match the arched door, these opening to reveal a shelved interior. The entire case rests over original bracket feet. The construction of the case is very fine. The pair of stiles on either side of the case joined in some kind of hidden dovetail or butt-joint, running from just an inch above the ground through the molding of the crest. Primitive antique vintage 1870s pine farmhouse kitchen corner cabinet cupboard
A grand. Large and old primitive kitchen corner cabinet. Made from pine, with some decorative(burl? wood insets. My guess is that it dates to about 1860 to 1870. Hard to tell too much about it since it has been painted, rather recently, in white latex. I have started to peel this off, which is why it looks so weird in the photos! It is heavy, and solid. There are 3 sections: a bottom section, with solid doors, a middle section with glass doors, and a top section, also with glass doors. There is also a deep drawer at the bottom. At the moment it is in the back of my garage. And I cannot get close to it to take better pics, but I will haul it out soon and post more pics. Dimensions are(very approximately, since I am just eyeballing it) 100" x 45" x 30" I will list more accurate dimensions when I can get back to the piece! THIS IS NOT FREE STANDING ~ must be hung in a corner to stay upright. The glass in the door is wavy and seems very old. It has a patch of scratches in the center that possibly could be buffed out; it seems like someone was too rough cleaning it with something abrasive, not terrible but mentioned for accuracy. Vintage antique victorian hutch sideboard kitchen corner cabinet cupboard 1850s?
A grand. Large and old Victorian kitchen corner cabinet. I don't know what the wood is, it could be, as an eBayer noted, cherry. At first I just assumed it was pine, but I think it is too heavy for that. There are some decorative(walnut burl? wood insets. My guess is that it dates to about 1850 to 1875. Hard to tell too much about it since it has been painted, rather recently, in white latex. I have started to peel this off, which is why it looks so weird in the photos! It is heavy, and solid. There are 4 sections: a bottom section with a deep drawer, a section with solid doors, a middle section with glass doors, and a top section, also with glass doors.
