Scientific, and Statistical. By Professor Henry F. Walling and O.W. Gray, Civil& Top'l. Engineer. Published in 1872 by Stedman, Brown& Lyton, Philadelphia. The map has fantastic coloring to it and is a great period county map. With towns, cities, railroads, roads, etc. of the time. Excellent, detailed and interesting period map of these counties. The map is generally in Very Good condition. There is some wear and browning along the edges. There are some small tears and chips along the edges. There is a crease down the middle where it was originally bound. The bottom of the crease has a tear that extends just to the border line of the map. Other dings here and there. As well. This map is a great piece of US history! It will look very nice when framed. Please note that while I have included pictures of the front board of the Atlas and the Title Page from the Atlas this map was taken from. This is a large 1892 Railroad Map of Oregon. It measures 25 X 17 inches. This map has listed the railroad companies and area in which they cover. See top lower scans. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It is in absolutely perfect condition. Nicest we've seen in over 25 years of selling maps. Map was taken from the Cram's Railway Atlas which is near impossible to find and very expensive when found. All maps are sent carefully rolled in a secure pvc shipping tube by priority mail. We take special care in shipping these maps as there are no replacements. Your map will be rolled in kraft paper. Then taped to apply enough pressure to keep map from shifting in the tube and possibly dulling the edges. We also insure each map for it's full value. Looking over these maps I am amazed at how many differences there are today. Sellers Inventory no. M1898002362/63) Condition: The map has light discoloration. As expected for it's age and may appear slightly curled in the photo, however it will lay flat. Please use the photos to determine the condition of the map. This ... moreis an amazing detailed map and with some care it can be mounted and framed to enjoy a piece of history. This is the actual original item and not a copy. As it was always in a book the colors have been wonderfully preserved. These will look wonderful framed and hung on your wall and will be sure to give you pleasure for years to come. They are very attractive. Detailed and colorful maps that give us a glance into the past, and have been lots of fun pouring over them for hours by myself, and with friends, looking at the huge differences that have occurred in the last four to five generations. The occasional edge damage such as a tear. Foxing and even the rare stain or crease does appear on a few of these maps that I have for sale, however, any damage that affects the map itself( as opposed to the edge) will be listed above. You are looking at a 1890 Washington Railway map from Grant’s Bankers’ and Brokers’ Railway Atlas. This map covers the whole of Washington as it was in 1890. The map itself was the product of George Cram. A well known map publisher at the turn of the century. The atlas was created for stock speculation to show clients the routes of the early railroads. Land speculators, stock brokers, bankers and some financial big wigs were the market place A.A. Grant wanted to please with this atlas. We have heard about one earlier. An 1899 edition. This 1890 atlas or one like it, was once the property of some repository in the North Eastern part of the United States. Worldcat lists it, but no one knows who had it or where it is. The link is broken after the listing. This is a fine example of Cram’s seminal work which led to his famous Standard American ... moreRailway Atlas. You are looking at a map from Walker’s International Atlas. The map covers the whole of Idaho as it was in 1892. The maps themselves were the product of George Cram. A well know map publisher at the turn of the century. Walker took the base Cram’s maps and added hand colored lithography, giving a light Easter egg pastel richness that is eye stopping in expression and exact detail. We have acquired another copy from 1896. Worldcat.org does not show any 1892 editions. This means that the historical societies. Reference libraries and railroad collections, and museums have never seen these or are unaware of their existence or the importance these maps made on the future ... moreof Railroad maps in the United States and Canada. Possibly the title has caused it to be overlooked. Nowhere is to be found that this is a Railroad atlas by its title. It would fall through the cracks and be filed under the numerous names of regular atlases so popular during this time period. Each map measures 17 1/2 X 25 inches. The map in this listing is in great overall condition. With only a light showing of handling. Truly this is an investment to cherish. One could frame it and sell at a later date, or one could make copies and recover the investment in short order. This finely detailed map shows lakes and rivers. This map shows the railway system as it existed in 1898 and includes a list of the numerous railway companies in business at the time. Detailed and colorful maps that give us a glance into the past, and have been lots of fun pouring over them for hours by myself, and with friends, looking at the huge differences that have occurred in the last four to five generations. The occasional edge damage such as a tear. Foxing and even the rare stain or crease does appear on a few of these maps that I have for sale, however, any damage that affects the map itself( as opposed to the edge) will be listed above.
