There is fraying around the edges of the pages with a few short tears but no losses to the maps and no stains or writing on them. The size is 13& 5/8" by 10& 3/4"

1888 Original Antique Color Maps of Washington TY, New Mex. , from Gaskell Atlas
This offering features an original antique one-page. Highly detailed, multi-color map of WASHINGTON TERRITORY(later formed the State of Washington) with an equal sized high-quality map of NEW MEXICO on the back. The maps were rescued from Gaskell's Atlas of the World, published in 1888, and which was in unsalvageable condition. The last two photos validate the origin of the maps and the publishing date. The maps were specially engraved for inclusion in this Gaskell atlas and are contemporary with the publishing date. Both maps have a page size of 11-1/4" wide x 13-3/4" long. The Washington Territory map has an image size of 9-5/8" wide x 12-1/4" long and the New Mexico map has an image size of 10-1/4" wide x 12-1/4" long. The map's condition is excellent. A total of 227 geologic folios were produced by the United States Geological Survey between 1894 and 1945. We will be offering over 100 of them on eBay. Each folio includes both topographic and geologic maps for each quadrangle represented in that folio. And normally a description of the basic and economic geology of the same area. Some folios are not beautiful from the outside, but all are very functional, and the price is right. CONDITION NOTES The Folio contents(especially maps) were printed on fine quality heavy paper; however. The covers were not. Covers are quite subject to soiling, chipping, tearing, chunks missing, etc, and if appropriate, covers may have been repaired with archival tape. Occasionally, the covers may have darkened the first text page inside.
