Antique wrought iron blanket chest hinges
Antique wrought iron strap/butterfly blanket chest hinges. The hinges are most likely 18th century. Thje strap element is 12-14" long and has a nice spear point. The butterfly element is about 4" long. There is about 1" between the pin and the inside of the butterfly element. That portion would fit on the top of the backboard of the blanket chest. A few years ago these hinges would have been priced above $150 Ask questions of interested. Short period rose head nails are available for $3 each. I also have a few blanket chest locks. Pair Antique Hand Forged Wrought Iron H L Hinges~for Pine/Oak Door~
Here for sale are a pair of genuine English antique wrought iron hand forged H L hinges suitable for an old pine or oak door. Being handmade they vary slightly in size. Both measure about 12 inches high. When open one measures 13 5/8 inches wide and the other 12 5/8. The knuckles measure 3 7/8 inches. I have added a second picture to show wear to the knuckles. All are hand forged. The loose rust has been removed and they have been waxed.

Up for sale is this set of two wrought iron double sided door hinges. This set can be used on either the right or left side. This set comes from a catalog company called Gardener's Eden. Once owned by Williams Sonoma, which is no longer in business. They have never been used and have been in storage for many years. The hinges have a nice dimpled texture on either side and are very sturdy and heavy. There are a few rust spots near the hinge itself, so please view pics thoroughly. The hinges swing nicely but could probably use a little oil. They measure 8-1/2" on the longest side. The hinges stand about 7 1/4" overall and the leaf is about 2 1/02" by 2 3/8" The flattened finial on the bottom of the hinge is about 1 1/2" by 1 3/8" The are for a left hinged door only and probably came off a large cupboard such as a Kas. RUSTIC Pair of Hand Made Wrought Iron 15" strap hinges from pre Civil War Barn
Right off the side barn door A great pair of heavy duty hand forged wrought iron colonial hinges from a pre Civil War Barn in Upstate. New York. Barn door pictured. Each hinge strap measures approx. 15" long and 1 1/2" at their widest point. The first section of this barn was built in 1781. The barn was added to and repurposed to suit the farms needs until the 1950's. Since then. It has mostly been used for storage. This barn has some hand hewn beams that are 16" wide and outside barn board that is as wide as 18" Unfortunately this barn is too expensive to restore and will be coming down in the near future. These hinges have not been cleaned or the original surface disturbed. I was able to salvage 4 of the rose head nails that are included. Please ask any question you may have.

Larger pair is 11" long from the pivot. And the smaller pair is 8 3/4" Both have good patina and color, with the larger pair just a bit darker, as pictured. Both are in perfect condition with no damage and no repair, and they were in an old New England collection until recently. These are most commonly found on Pennsylvania type blanket chests, but once in a while also turn up on New England furniture. If you have a use for them, this is a good opportunity. They do have the usual rust and surface corrosion. Expected of a piece this age. I also note a small area on the"back" of the one hinge where a piece of the metal is flaking upward. Its nothing major. The area measures about 2 inches long and at the widest point, 1 inch. see photo) Other than the above the hinges are straight. These type of hinges can be used on barns or other out buildings. Even doors on stone homes, or log structures. All original and in great condition. These had been cleaned years back. But not refinished, then stored inside. Metal is rock solid competent. From my uncle's estate in Ballston Spa, he'd purchased these a few miles away from a 19th century Saratoga NY barn back in the 1960's and made one into a coat rack, as pictured. One hinge has cast iron hooks bolted in to make a coat rack. Pretty cool as that. But easily unscrewed for door hinge use. Pintel openings are a touch over 1/2" Excellent for period restorations.
