This item is a beautiful map for Laurens District. South Carolina showing the location of residents of the area in 1820 when the district was surveyed by M. Coate for publication in the Mills Atlas which was published in 1825. This map is part of a limited facsimile edition published in 1965 by Robert Pearce Wilkins and John D. Keels, Jr. in Columbia, SC thus this map is nearly 50 years old. The cover page indicates that the maps have been faithfully reproduced from the original engravings. This edition came with an introduction by Charles E. Lee, Director of South Carolina Archives Department. This edition provides an affordable option to the original published in 1820 which can sell for $50.000 or more in its entirety, and individually extracted maps costing in excess of $2,000.00 each, when and if they can be found.
