The overall size of the map sheet is large at approximately 18 inches by 26 inches. The map is far more beautiful than my pictures show. This hand-colored map is from the 1864"Bridgens Atlas of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This atlas was from actual surveys by H. F. Bridgens and Assistants and published by D. S. Bare, Lancaster, PA. Bridgens is credited with creating the first Lancaster County atlas. The town plans are drawn on a scale 500- 900 feet to one inch. The townships are shown on a scale of 1.25- 2 inches to 1 mile, and show great detail of rivers, roads, property owners, business subscribers, and more. There was a total of 43 pages. This was page 34. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Additional information: The map shows the Township of Eden. Also shows Quarryville. Camargo, and May. It also shows Paterson's Run, Mt. Eden Furnace, and Keen's Run. The map also has an inset of the property owners of Quarryville at the time. Date: 1864. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Size: The page measures 16 3/8" x 16" Maker: Published by D. S. Bare. Lancaster, PA. Distinguishing Characteristics- Most Interesting About The Piece: A very nice high quality antique map. Condition: The map is in very good shape with foxing and general darkening along the edges. This map was taken out of an atlas and shows the sewing holes from the binding on the left edge. Map shows overall soiling. Some foxing, dampness marks along the bottom and left edge, rounded corner at bottom right and a torn-off corner top right as well as small tears along the edges. The sheet also has some minor creases and folds along the edges. Be that as it may the map is otherwise intact and non of the tears or folds and creases reach it. The map still has vivid and fresh colors and would look great once properly framed. Please view ph

1864 FLORIDA Map JOHNSON ATLAS CIVIL WAR Hand Watercolor
An ORIGINAL antique 1864 map of FLORIDA from JOHNSON'S New Illustrated FAMILY ATLAS. The counties are individually hand water colored and a number of early railroads are shown with their names printed next to them. South of Tampa there are virtually no settlements although there are a handful of wagon roads noted and 20 or so named Forts. Even these stop at the Everglades which are labelled"COUNTRY OCCUPIED BY THE SEMINOLES" and"INDIAN HUNTING GROUNDS" An 1863 copyright date is printed along the lower border. What makes Johnson's maps so desirable is that although many maps from this time period showed railroad routes. His also show major stagecoach and wagon roads. This map shows hundreds of these roads. Antique 1864 Map: North & South Carolina, Johnson & Ward, Civil War Era
This map is from Johnson's New Family Atlas. Published by Johnson& Ward in 1864. This antique authentic map shows Johnson's NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA by Johnson& Ward The map was printed on newsprint paper which has yellowed and has some areas of discoloration and age staining. Which can be viewed in the photographs. There are also small tears at some edges and a 1 inch vertical tear near the center at the bottom. It measures just over 18 inches by about 26 inches. However. It's a wonderful old piece, and would be great framed, for a collector of antique maps. I am selling all of the maps from the Atlas. In separate auctions.
