And just looks cool as all get out. As far as I can tell, there isn’t much that can go wrong with them. The latest of the patent dates is the American one(1900) The other patent dates are for Canada. The United Kingdom and Belgium. There are four cutters. Two of them appear to be for meat. Another is marked“Bread Crumber” And the last one says Condition– It has a patina that shows a lot of use. But there are no bad scratches on it. Some of the pages of the pamphlet are loose and it’s somewhat brittle with age. But it is otherwise readable. Since this weighs well over 4 pounds before any box or packaging. I will send it in a medium flat rate box, the cost of which will be $12.65- Free local pickup is an option if you can make your way to Saint Paul. It comes with it's original box that's in acceptable shape. It is heavy. Made of heavy cast iron by Landers Frary& Clark of New Britain. Connecticut. It measures a little over 9 inches high. The grinder blades, brace screw, and parts of the grinder have some rust on them that will comes off with some steel wool. There are three different grinder blades. An arm that connects to the grinder and a screw that holds the arm on. The handle of the arm has a wooden handle. The grinder has the original paperwork, a pamphlet with product information and includes both care instructions and a parts list, with prices and is in its original red box. The chopper was manufactured in the United States. The chopper is made of cast iron, treated with a tin finish to avoid rusting. It has 3 cutting blades for fine, medium and coarse chopping, all of which are clean and sharp. One has only a little bit of rust which would undoubtedly clean up well. The grinder is clean and in very good condition. The paperwork and box are in good structural condition, though both have significant staining. This would make a great addition to your kitchen ... moretool collection, or just a neat decorative piece for your kitchen, store, or restaurant. Thank you for your interest. It's in excellent condition. Hand crank wood handle is in great shape. Old Antique 1900 Patent Universal No. 1, Food Chopper, Meat Grinder, Cast Iron
Here's an old or antique Universal No. 1"Food Chopper" or meat grinder kitchen tool we received recently with some older kitchen items. This one has many raised markings on the cast iron pieces and seems to have had patents in the late 1800's with one noted as 1900. So this is probably from the very early 1900's. The cutoff piece is reversible and has a multitooth side and a three tooth side. The wood handle is in nice shape with slight signs of use and age as one might expect. My guess is this had been in use for making hash or other ground meat and vegetable type meals up until recently. It is relatively clean though a little fine cleaning could be done. Other markings indicate"L F& C" of New Britain. CT, USA. To lend a little scale to the photos the grinder stands about 8 inches tall from the bottom ... moreof the frame to the top of the frame. The opening is about 3 inches by 2.5 inches. Nice old or antique kitchen tool, seems suited for continued use. That's about it. Very cool piece! I don't know much about it's workings but it seems to be complete. I really don't know for sure though. This auction is for an old meat grinder. It has the markings Universal 2 Made in USA. It is all metal except for the wood handle. It appears to me to be in working shape. I would clean it first before using on food but see no reason why it would not work. Also comes with a couple of attachments. 0 It measures approx. 10 inches long, thanks for looking.
