MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA It is all metal except for the wood black handle. It appears to me to be in working shape, I would clean it first before using on food but see no reason why it would not work. Hi. You are looking at a cast iron tinned meat grinder made by Enterprise. It features a wooden handle and'Pat. Jan.30.83 Apl.13.86, Philadelphia U.S.A. on one side. It has been left in its original condition with no restorations. It has more of a gray appearance than silver. There is rust throughout and some small spots of paint. The interior looks nicer but is also rusty. The strain plate has surface rust as well. The copper ring on the wooden handle has turned green and is loose. The handle turns but does make a lot of noise. It sits flat on a flat surface and is able to be screwed down. It is complete and appears to work properly. Pieces look much better when disassembled. There is some surface rusting. I gave it a quick wash then dried it in the oven so it wouldn't rust further. But did not oil it. I didn't want it to be a smudgy mess during shipping, but a good coat of oil and then some USE would make this right as rain! The bad is the handle is missing as well as the blade, and packaged weight is just over 10 lbs of IRON, lol. What's fabulous? There are 8 plates that go with this. The auger is there as well as the screw on cap. So other than the slight rust coating, this can be a great functional piece. It only has one foot with 4 holes to screw it down to your meat board. Antique Enterprise Tinned No. 10 Meat Chopper/Grinder - possibly from late 1800s
Selling items from my grandmother's estate- she had a lot of kitchen antiques and primitives. This is an Enterprise No. 10 Tinned Meat Chopper which was sold during the late 1800's- inscriptions on chopper are- 1384- on the clamp part, which does turn, not very easily, but I have not greased it nor manipulated it with any tools- the grinder plate screw ring I was unable to get off, I didn't want to use a wrench, and didn't see much of a point, as it doesn't come with any other grinder plates than what is currently on it. As you can see in one of the pictures, the grinder plate has a chip out of it, which doesn't seem to change it's functionality, but I didn't test it with any food products.
