Vintage Enterprise No. 22 Tinned Cast Iron Meat Grinder Chopper 1886
Hi. You are looking at a cast iron tinned meat grinder made by Enterprise. It features a wooden handle and'Pat. Jan.30.83 Apl.13.86, Philadelphia U.S.A. on one side. It has been left in its original condition with no restorations. It has more of a gray appearance than silver. There is rust throughout and some small spots of paint. The interior looks nicer but is also rusty. The strain plate has surface rust as well. The copper ring on the wooden handle has turned green and is loose. The handle turns but does make a lot of noise. It sits flat on a flat surface and is able to be screwed down. It is complete and appears to work properly. Pieces look much better when disassembled. No. 5- ENTERPRISE TINNED MEAT CHOPPER. And ENTERPRISE MF'G. CO. PHILA. U.S.A. are the markings, on this used kitchen counter, hand-powered grinder, from the early-1900s. The 10" tall zinc plated chopper has a 7" handle with a wooden knob. ~ It has light wear. A darkened metal patina, and the handle thumb screw has been REPLACED with a regular hex bolt. The wooden knob has a smooth chip on one side. Also included are four cutter attachments, and one is a NUT BUTTER CUTTER. My photos show the exact item that you are getting. Vintage Tinned Meat Chopper Model #10 Enterprise Mfg. Circa Early 20th Century
I am an estate sale picker. I don't collect I buy and sell to those who collect. Here is a meat chopper that is over 75 years old and up until last year was being used at a deer camp to make sausage. It has a second plate for a more course grind and an additional blade as well. Both cutter blades are sharp. The hardwood handle is a little discolored from years in use. Otherwise this machine is in pristine condition. Note please that this machine has 2 table clamps. Later models Enterprise machines only have one. Which allow for the machine to twist from time to time. The No. 10"Tinned" Meat Chopper" was manufactured by the Enterprise Mfg. Co. of Philadelphia, Pa. Early in the 20th century. From a local estate. Here is an old Enterprise meat grinder, model#32. This is the larger one, stands over 8" tall, the hopper is about 6" X 7" the unit measures almost 14" across without the sausage tube attached. Looks complete with the handle and end nut, cutter blade, plate, front ring, and a sausage stuffer tube that may not be original but I'll send it along. Condition as shown. It is older with plenty of discoloration, a little flash rust here and there, nothing serious. Everything works like it should, this is not a complicated machine. Spend a little time cleaning it to your satisfaction, then it should be ready for decades more service. Sorry about the high cost to ship, this is a large, heavy grinder. Made in USA. Measurements(approximate) The chopper is 13 1/2" tall(with the clamp open) and 11 1/2" deep(including handle) The clamp opens up to 1 1/2" And the meat receptacle is 4" X 5" This meat grater shows wear and use commensurate with age. This is a beautiful vintage Enterprise meat chopper/grinder. It is a Vise model with“Enterprise tinned meat chopper. No. 5, and"Tinned" stamped on it. These things last forever; many that are over 100 years old are still in use. I do not know the age of this piece, but its patina is perfect. The new version of this model under the Chop-Rite name, retails for over $120 and totally lacks charm. Set your kitchen or cabin up for hunting season with a piece of history! Up for bid is an Enterprise Table Top Meat Grinder. Size#10. Includes blade and plate. This is set up more like larger grinders. Only still hand powered. Made in USA.
