Up for auction is a working Model#2 Universal Food Chopper that connects to a flat surface while you grind nuts. Meat, cheese, or whatever. It definitely needs a good cleaning. It comes with it's original box that's in acceptable shape. It is heavy. Made of heavy cast iron by Landers Frary& Clark of New Britain. Connecticut. It measures a little over 9 inches high. The grinder blades, brace screw, and parts of the grinder have some rust on them that will comes off with some steel wool. There are three different grinder blades. An arm that connects to the grinder and a screw that holds the arm on. The handle of the arm has a wooden handle. Vintage L. F. C. No 2 Universal Hand Crank Meat Grinder/Food Chopper Table Top This is a vintage cast iron hand crank table top food chopper/meat grinder. Made by L.F. C. in New Britain Conn. U.S.A. I'm not sure what year it was made. But I do remember turning the crank for my mother when I was young, 50 years ago. And I thought it looked old then. It has a few different PAT. dates. 1897, 1899& 1900. It does have some normal wear and tear. The tinned coating that keeps it from rusting is in great shape on the inside but has been worn off in spots on the outside. The handle on the crank is made of oak. I believe, and still in great shape. Everything turns freely and comes apart with ease. It would be great for a collection or to use for building muscles. If you win this item and want to use it. Make sure you put something between the ... moretop and bottom parts of the clamp and the table you are mounting it to. The clamp will leave a mark or even a indention on some surfaces. Vintage Universal No. 2 Food-Meat-Nut Chopper - 8" cast iron - VG condition
VINTAGE UNIVERSAL MEAT-NUT-FOOD GRINDER This is a vintage cast iron Universal No. 2 Food Chopper. 8 3/4" tall, 5# grinder made in the USA by L F& C in New Britain, Conn. Shows patent dates of Oct. 12, 1897 and Apr 18, 1899 and"RE Sept 5, 1899" Could be manufactured in the 19th century. It has a 9" long wooden handled crank. Has a dark patina surface and shows little sign of wear or abuse. The unit is very clean. The only issue is the clamping piece on the screw clamp is missing and has been replaced by a large nut that is attached to the screw(see image) This does not affect usage. The handle will probably be removed to facilitate shipping. This is easily re-attached with the original wing nut. Payment is expected within three days of the auction close.
