The handle is not painted and has a brass ring around the stem of the handle. This has embossed dates everywhere! The embossed markings are big and bold. And virtually cover the surfaces in which it is displayed. The condition is good with superb patina to all parts for antique/ vintage display. Check out the photos for more detail. Old Antique 1900 Patent Universal No. 1, Food Chopper, Meat Grinder, Cast Iron
Here's an old or antique Universal No. 1"Food Chopper" or meat grinder kitchen tool we received recently with some older kitchen items. This one has many raised markings on the cast iron pieces and seems to have had patents in the late 1800's with one noted as 1900. So this is probably from the very early 1900's. The cutoff piece is reversible and has a multitooth side and a three tooth side. The wood handle is in nice shape with slight signs of use and age as one might expect. My guess is this had been in use for making hash or other ground meat and vegetable type meals up until recently. It is relatively clean though a little fine cleaning could be done. Other markings indicate"L F& C" of New Britain. CT, USA. To lend a little scale to the photos the grinder stands about 8 inches tall from the bottom ... moreof the frame to the top of the frame. The opening is about 3 inches by 2.5 inches. Nice old or antique kitchen tool, seems suited for continued use. That's about it. Antique food/meat grinder- ECLIPSE- Patent date Oct. 6. 1906 on one side and Apr. 25, 99 on the other side. See pics! Screws onto a table edge for use and has a wood handle on the turn crank. It comes with 3 different grinder sizes. Nice condition for age. Happy to answer any questions.
