This meat grinder shows a last patent date of May 15. 1900. The handle advertises a patent held in Canada on Oct. 12 1897. Great Britain in 1897 and also in Belgium. This grinder could be cleaned up and used today. it is a solid piece. It clamps to the table and turns easily. It would also make a beautiful rustic display. VINTAGE UNIVERSAL MEAT-NUT-FOOD GRINDER This is a vintage cast iron Universal No. 2 Food Chopper. 8 3/4" tall, 5# grinder made in the USA by L F& C in New Britain, Conn. Shows patent dates of Oct. 12, 1897 and Apr 18, 1899 and"RE Sept 5, 1899" Could be manufactured in the 19th century. It has a 9" long wooden handled crank. Has a dark patina surface and shows little sign of wear or abuse. The unit is very clean. The only issue is the clamping piece on the screw clamp is missing and has been replaced by a large nut that is attached to the screw(see image) This does not affect usage. The handle will probably be removed to facilitate shipping. This is easily re-attached with the original wing nut. Payment is expected within three days of the auction close. Believed to be circa early 20th century. The tool is the grinder is a smaller size, measuring a bit over 8" long, and about 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" across the hopper mouth(probably about the same size as a Griswold No 1) Body is prominently marked"Larkin" on the hopper. It comes with a full set of four blades. Including a reversible processor blade; fine cut on one side and very fine cut on the other side. Made to last several lifetimes. The body parts are made entirely of cast iron, and zinc plated for longevity and rust resistance. The precision round chopper/ extruder plates are milled steel and very well made. Vintage Hand Crank Meat Food Grinder Parts w/Wing Nut Wrench
I am not 100% sure what brand these parts are. They resemble most closely and are most likely Economy brand and will probably fit Keystone. Maid of Honor, Frankson, Winchester, LF& C Universal Britain Conn. I believe all of these are made in USA. I show a single picture of one of the discs. This is the reverse side of the one in the lower right of the picture before it(with all four discs) One rare item is the wing nut wrench included in these parts. I show it on the wing/thumb nut so you can see how it fits. It would actually accommodate a very long stud or threaded rod. You get everything in the first picture which is shown in close-ups in the rest of the pictures. Great starting price and NO RESERVE!
