It has hinged silver caps on both sides. The end caps were probably once shiny sterling. But are duller now. The bottle is a good weight. It is a"French Dressing" cruet/bottle produced by the T.G. Hawkes Company famous for their cut glass of the Brilliant Period. Many of their patterns were patented. As was this bottle. The Hawkes clover logo is on the bottom of the stopper and the bottom of the bottle plus the bottle is etched"Patented Oct. 1914" The patent number was D46,500, the two page document can be viewed at the US Patent Office website. Copies will be included with this purchase. The patent was granted to Townsend de M. Hawkes, a cousin of T.G. Hawkes. I have seen a few other example of Hawkes French Dressing bottles, they are all"simple" ... morecut glass versions, one with a sterling stopper. The example here is a show stopper. All of the etchings(Oil" and"Vinegar" flowers, an 8 point star on the stopper and notches in the stopper) are hi-lighted with gold leaf in the Bohemian/Czech Moser style. There are additional gold bands and trim PLUS white enamel dots on both the bottle and the stopper. This is a Truffle glass bottle in which Truffles were sold in back between 1850 to 1890s it is the small size at 6-1/4 in. tall. This is a dug bottle and it does have light scuffs and fine scratches but only under close inspection. The top has a very drippy applied lip with a deep kick up base like what's found on old wine bottles. This is the small and harder to find size most are around 9 in. tall. The bottle is made of stoneware, and has the expected molding imperfections(pits, holes, pinholes. etc) that you would expect from the manufacturing processes. There are no cracks, or major defects. The bottle is tan and mustard colored. It is about 8 1/2" high. About 1 1/4" diameter at the top, and about 2 7/8" diameter at the base. The top is ready for a cork, and in one of the bottles I havethe cork is still there. The top was sealed with something and then tied on with string. You are bidding on an Antique Clear Bottle that was apparently hand made. I'm calling it hand made because it has a large pronounced seam running up two sides that stops at the lip where the bottle was apparently tooled with a smooth lip. The lip has a lot of small air bubbles. The bottom and the sides also have several fairly large air bubbles. There is quite a bit of staining or dirt on the inside. It is pure olive green glass, with an open pontil mark on it's base, dating it to the 1860s. It has a hard to find spider crack in the side panel, so thin that you have to search for it, and some tiny lip flakes. Beautiful Vintage Rare Green Depression Era Triangular Pressed Glass bottle
This auction is for a Vintage Rare Depression Era Triangular Shaped Light Green Glass Bottle. It does have slight scuffing from age on the bottom and natural defects from manufacturing ie: several bubbles in glass. Seam down both sides. It is heavy glass but narrow and short. It is perfect for a window ledge to add to your bottle collection. It stands aprox. 3 3/4 inches tall x 4 inches long x 1 inch wide. The mouth opening at the top is aprox 1/2 inch in diameter. The bottom inside glass is not level it looks like a wave higher on one side and lower to the right as seen in the picture, but the bottom of the bottle is perfectly level and slightly concave. VINTAGE- 1920s- Primitive Short Neck Clear Bottle- DAVIS O.K. Baking Powder. This is definitely a neat old bottle by someone that was either not very good or very inexperienced. As this bottle has a LOT of manufacturing defects. The bottle has a lot of flat spots and the glass is uneven throughout. There are numbers in the bottom with a 662 and a 6. I don't know what these numbers mean. I also can't tell if this is molded or blown. As the bottle looks like a hand blown bottle however I don't remember ever seeing numbers on a blown bottle so I assume that it is molded. What is cool though is the defects in it. Such as the sheer number of both large and small air bubbles in the glass and the fact that someone had to of burned themselves as there is a partial fingerprint in the glass. I have done some research on this bottle and ... morefrom what I can tell is the first clear molded bottles were made in 1900-1910. This is an approximation and stated on the Hoboken Historical Museum website. As for this bottle it was either made earlier or more likely slightly later than that 1920s time frame. I say that cause the bottles shown from that time period did not have numbers however those appeared to be much better quality wise. This bottle also has a much shorter neck. The bottle is 4.28" in height. The cylinder has an outside diameter of 2.25" and the stopper hole has an inside diameter of 0.77" and an outside diameter of 1.162" FREE Shipping: on this item is Postal Service. This is a very cool little bottle or shaker.Honestly I don't know what it is.If you run your finger on the inside of it you can feel the opal/white lines.The out side is smooth.It has a ribbed patern on the four edges,Thats what made me think it may have been a baby bottle but that's just a guess.The top of it has a very crude cut and a very small V shaped chip.I don't know if this was done when it was made or not, but outside of that it is a wonderful piece.It measures 3 5/8" tall by 1 5/8" at the bottom.There is no top with it.If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me
