Antique Victorian Hobnail Chatelaine Perfume Flask Bottle Sterling Silver Scent
Beautiful leaf motif repoussé sterling silver capped perfume flask from the Victorian/Edwardian period with a pressed hobnail pattern to the glass. Marked"STERLING" The cork was dried out and damaged. So I replaced it with the appropriate size, it will fully seal and be a functioning piece. Measures 8cm x 1.7cm, the last picture shows the damage to the cap. The vial itself is in great condition with no major scratching or chips, amazing considering it being over 100 years old! Antique Victorian blue glass & silver double ended perfume scent bottle
Over the next few weeks I am selling a large collection of antiques for my brother. Most have been acquired through auction houses. This auction is for a really beautiful double ended scent bottle. Late 19th century. The main body is a 10 sided deep turquoise blue glass section with silver ends both sides. It is almost identical to this one. Which is selling for £255! Mine is a bigger version. http:www.sellingantiques.co.uk/antiquedetail.asp?autonumber=204541 One side has a screw top lid with cork inside. Which no longer tightens properly, there is a small crack at the base of the lid. The other side has a hinged lid with original cut glass stopper which snaps shut nicely. There are no hallmarks on the silver. But I am pretty sure they are sterling silver. Apparently according to the website above it was common for scent bottles of this ... moreperiod not to have marks. I have not tested the composition, and no guarantees that they are not silver plate. Measures approx 4 7/8" long x 1 1/8" at widest point. Glass has some minor scratches and a couple of very very tiny chips on edges where it is cut. Damage to screw top lid. Overall in excellent condition for age. Will post next day special delivery. VERY RARE Antique Vintage Victorian Silver Thimble Etui cut glass scent bottle
Incredible silver Thimble forming a case(étui) discretely hiding a miniature cut glass bottle to hold scent or perfume. To perhaps refresh the'Lady' while sewing? There are no hallmarks that I can see but a Jeweller has assured me it is solid Silver. Similarly there is no size marked on the Thimble- Measurements: Diameter base thimble 1.6cms Diameter base etui 1.8cms Diameter crown of Thimble 1.2cms Height thimble 2.5cms Height étui 3.5cms The Thimble& Etui are in Excellent condition. Just the silver could do with some polishing, but I would rather leave that to the'experts' See the pretty engraved pattern around the center of the Thimble with also a'shield' engraved ready for initials! The Thimble screws onto the base holding the scent bottle. This screw works perfectly. The indentations on the base ... moreof the Etui I feel sure are there for a reason. But I have found no information about them. The Miniature cut glass bottle has 9 facets with more. Even smaller, shoulder' facets. The stopper is in perfect condition and if you look closely you will see a pattern built into the top from air bubbles. I presume. The lower part of the stopper has been ground so as to fit well. Gold nugget style DeVilbiss atomizer detailed with etched flowers. Ferns& birds. I think this dates to around 1922-25. Stands 5 ¼” high& 3 ¼” wide at base. Etching is in excellent shape without any chips or scuffs as is the rest of the bottle. Plating is in very good condition, shiny& excellent gold color with minimal brown spot. Glass siphon. Good strong spray with a new atomizer bulb makes this piece a standout. You don’t see this shape too often. CAVEATS: Gold wear on neck& around base. Slight denting to collar. NO HANDLING FEES! ITEM DESCRIPTION This auction is for a beautiful antique cut glass and silver scent bottle. Made in the last year of Queen Victorias reign. 1901- hallmarked thus to the collar. Maker is the very respected William Hutton& Sons. Measures 10cm tall. It needs some work as the hinge pin has broken internally- the hinge itself is not damaged so it just needs the pin removing and replacing. Was Featured in"Perfume and Scent Bottle Collecting" with the following caption: A most unusual container for scent bottles is this miniature dropleaf table made of brass. A cagework basket suspended under table center holds four hand blown bottles. Each measuring 2-1/2"6cm) high and 1-3/8"3.5cm) square. Cap, neck, and shoulder mounts are finely embossed brass bearing traces of gold. The table measures 9-1/2" 24cm) by 8" 20cm) when extended. The tab handle to the stopper was applied to the round base. There is a line where the tab was attached(this is not a crack) These bottles are very rare due to their fragility. Most pieces found have cracks hidden by the silver overlay. This piece does not. The bottle measures approx. 2 5/8" tall from the base to the top of the Sterling silver lid. The bottle measures approx. 1 1/2" diameter. This item is an estate piece and in excellent condition for it's age. The Sterling lid has some shallow dents consistent with it's age& the softness of Sterling. The silver overlay is in excellent condition. There are no pieces missing, only a few small dings. I am listing a group of nice Antique Bottles this week. Here is a Lovely Little Antique c.1830s-40s vintage COBALT GLASS SMELLING SALT BOTTLE WITH PEWTER CAP. Probably a Boston and Sandwich Glass piece. It is 2-5/8" tall with the cap. Cap with original cork inside it. Cap screws on a bit awkwardly but will go on if you manuveur it on straight. There are little rough spots on the ridges on the glass- all in the same spot halfway down body on each ridge for some reason(see close-ups of worst) Looks like maybe a couple of knicks to the top rim of glass. For Your Consideration An Antique Georgian or Victorian Lachrymatory or Perfume Bottle dated to between 1700-1860 Description I very much suspect that this is a Georgian(18th century) perfume bottle. Rather than a Victorian tearcatcher. The bottle is made of clear glass with gold enamel? paint. The bottle is painted with swirls on the front and back and stylised leaves on its sides It has its original stopper that is dark red in colour with gold painting. The bottle measures 14 cm long. Just under 2 cm wide and 1.5 cm thick. The bottle is in good condition. But with significant loss of the gold paint(particularly on the back and sides) and the upper rim(opening) is chipped on the outside(see photos) The bottle could do with a good cleaning(see photos) Postage Packaging and postage to the UK via Airmail with insurance. Offered is a most unusual object shaped like a large egg. It was sold as a cordial set. But I believe it is either an absinthe container or a perfume bottle box. It is reminiscent of Czech glass pieces. The central glass bottle with stopper is the only one included. It is in excellent condition and is 5" in height. The insert is brass with 6 holes around a 7th hole. Some of the Coralene is worn off, but much of it is intact. The scene is a quaint house next to a tree which looks like a birch tree. Although the cased glass appears tan in the photos, it is really more orange. The glass is free of any chips, cracks or repairs. It is covered with elaborate brass metal cagework in a floral/vines design. The metal lid is hinged and opens to reveal an inner glass stopper. On the very top there is a picture of a French garden scene(maybe the Tuileries in Paris? Note the fourth photo taken with a flash which reveals the gorgeous green color as reflected through the bottle from a white background. Size is 3-1/2 inches tall. No marks. There is gold on the trim and on the stopper. The stopper can wiggle. But it will not wiggle if you twist it on. It has a mark on the bottom that says Limoges and Hand Paints' It is hard to read but with the close up HD picture you can see it(see Picture) Before 1900 there was no requirement to have France written on exports. It has a ceramic stopper. It's beautiful without any damage except for slight wearing off of the paint around the bottom corners and a little on the gilt roses and on the gilt trim. Unusual Antique Blue Glass Double ended Perfume or scent bottle
Just out of a local house is this unusual double ended bottle. We beleive it is an old perfume bottle as it came with a collection of other antique perfume bottles. It has two openings. One on each end, an octagonal center section, and is an interesting teal blue color. It measures 2 7/8 inches long. 1 5/8 inches wide, and 9/16 inches deep.
