Moroccan ruby red perfume bottle with wire filigree
Clear ruby red perfume bottle. Adorned with wire filigree. The front of the bottle has a silver colored medallion with a white center stone. Wire is shaped into a filigree design, making a very ornate bottle! The back of the bottle also has wire filigree, but is missing the center medallion. The sides and bottom of the bottle have ornate filigree trim. The top screws off and has no damage. The bottom is silver colored and has no maker mark. This auction is for a beautiful. Rare, ruby glass perfume bottle with sterling silver overlay. It is approximately 4 5/8" in height, with stopper. The number"6" is etched on the bottom of the bottle. I can't see any number on the stopper because the bottom has chips. The LaPierre hallmark is on the neck of the bottle with the word"sterling" The LaPierre Manufacturing Company was founded in New York City around 1885 and relocated in 1893 to Newark, New Jersey. It was purchased in 1929 by the International Silver Co. so this bottle dates prior to that. There is a 3-letter monogram on the cartouche. The bottle has no chips, cracks, or missing silver. There are chips on the bottom of the stopper and scratches to silver. Any dark spots are reflections from the camera. Toilet Bottle" pictured in a 1907 DUGAN Catalog reprint, published in Heacock, Measell, Wiggins;Dugan/ Diamond-The story of Indiana PA Glass" page 66. This is a very rare shape in the scarce Filigree Art Line. The stoppers original, the glass is undamaged; this piece retains good distinctive gold gilding of the Filigree ... moreLine. The shape is a blown molded"blow-out" pattern. The EXTRAORDINARY part of THIS unique DUGAN PRODUCED piece is that the base has impressed(in a"mirrored' backward manner) RTHWOOD" a partial NORTHWOOD block lettered impression! We know that in 1907 Dugan made glass in an Indiana PA facility that was Northwood's until at least 1900. One possible explanation. after discussing this with various experienced glass researchers(Measell, Bredehoft) the consensus seems to be that its likely that this piece, while still hot, was set down or rested against an old mold, tool or piece of equipment, which could have been sitting at a blowers work site. Many times the molds had information/ writing molded onto to them. it would not have been impossible that an old Northwood mold had a raised identifying mark. NORTHWOOD in quarter inch high block letters; and THIS piece picked up the unusual mirrored, partial NORTHWOOD mold mark. No, I'm not photographing it for you, and giving it away. Buy it to see it. Antique Victorian Ruby Glass Cut to Clear Perfume Scent Bottle with Silver Lid
Lovely antique. Circa 1880, ruby cut to clear perfume bottle with hinged ornate repousse silver lid. It is not hallmarked, but has been tested as silver. Original undamaged glass stopper. One small vertical chip to the side of the bottle. See picture. Otherwise just minor fleabites. The lid has no dents and closes tightly. The hinge is in good working order. Stuck on the rim of the silver mount. Is a small dark and hard lump, see picture. Seems difficult to remove without risking damage. The pictures were taken both in daylight and incandescent light. It is a very solid gass bottle that measures about 2 5/8 inches tall and about 5 inches around the middle. The glass is clear opaque with a raised scallop design. The ruby/burgandy red swimmng/sleeping duck, cap and base are raised and perhaps applied? The bottle originally was used as an opium/snuff bottle but the estate owner used her collection on her dressing table to hold rings. The stopper fits tightly holding a scoop/spoon stick. I believe the stick/spoon is made of bone but aren't positive. For your consideration is what I believe to be a Victorian era antique ruby red cased crystal perfume bottle. Approx 6.75 inches tall. It is in beautiful condition with a few scratches on bottom and flea nics which only show when you pick the piece up and turn it over. This is sold as found. As is and does not have a lid or atomizer. The detailing is gorgeous with what appears to be hand cut stars and a diamond like floral or cross pattern around the piece. The inside of the bottle looks like a white glass. The metal top looks as if it could be a worn gold wash with tarnish and wear This metal top is firmly attached and does not unscrew which makes me think it had an atomizer and/or cap at one time. I purchased these salt and pepper shakers at a very famous farmer's market here in Pennsylvania where they sell food and antiques. They appear to be in perfect condition. These salt and pepper shakers also have a very unique energy being that they are from the 1800's. They are obviously built better than a ton of bricks to be this old and look this good. Antique Ahmed Soliman Ruby Red Silver Overlay Perfume Bottle 1920s to 30s Here is an antique Ruby Crystal Perfume Bottle by Ahmed Soliman featuring a silhouette of Egyptian Pharoah Ramsees in an embossed silver overlay on ruby crystal. It dates to the 1920s to 1930s and measures six inches long by 7/8 inches wide and 5/8 inches deep. There are no visible chips or cracks other than the tiny 1/32 inch"flea bite" specks that are visible only under examination with a jeweler's loop and some minor age-related surface scratches. There is some age-related wear to the silver edged enamel but it does not detract. The maker's name is clearly visible in gold lettering. The inner glass rod is intact. The screw top comes off easily. Contains no perfume. This bottle is an extremely rare example from the Ahmed Soliman line and in very ... morenice condition. Antique, RARE Ruby Red Glass Victorian Perfume Bottle with Sterling Silver
Beautiful. Rare and elegant, with faceted glass and ornate repousse silver hinged flip top lid. Glass is hand-blown and a rich ruby red found in decorative glass pieces of the Victorian era. These bottles first appeared in the late 1700's, but it wasn't until the mid-1800's that they were in general use. Their popularity waned during the late 1800's, but they continued to be made until the turn of the century. This item is in excellent condition, the silver carved hinge lid in perfect working order, with only a slight unevenness to the silver caused by opening and closing the lid and a slight patina to the silver. The faceted glass has a few nicks, but overall, it is in perfect shape. The bottle may have been worn around a lady's neck, as was the style of the age. Generally, a customer purchased the perfume bottle empty ... moreand had it filled by a chemist or perfumier, as ready-filled bottles of perfume were not yet on the market.
