There was no debate. I knew I wanted this item the moment I saw on the shelf at the Antique Store. Although the Store Owner was unable to give me any history. I did not care. I've used it as a decorative item for nearly 20 years with great pleasure. In preparing to sell, I did try to gather info on background but without much success. As shown in the photos, the following is engraved on bottom, 2200, FID& Plated by Reed& Barton" Nothing about the outside indicates that it was ever silver plated. Originally I thought it might be pewter but now I wonder if it might britanniaware. The inside does appear shiny and plated. Item looks exactly as I purchase many year ago- no tarnishing. There is the initial K on one side. Each of 4 legs toped with face of a?lion" Squarish handle and elevated orb on led as handle. Stands 5" ... moretall by 4 3/4" at widest. c1876 VICTORIAN REED BARTON EMBOSSED REPOUSSE CHASED CREAM PITCHER CREAMER JUG Search Up for auction is a Victorian creamer or pitcher standing 7 inches tall and is 5.75 inches wide by Reed and Barton with a patent date of Feb. 1st. 1876. The inside is clean and usable with no pitting and still retains the gilt trim. There are no repairs or dents and the silver plate has lots of shine. There is a monogrammed G on one side while the other side is blank. We also have the matching coffee pot on auction this week. Please remember that our items are mostly Victorian and always used. Mixed lot Antique Reed& Barton Creamer-Copperluster-sugar-Sheffield salt& more
Do not know alot about antiques but these were in the bottom of an old sewing machine that I bought.saw a couple names that I know and thought someone might like this odd ball collection. Starting with the easy ones 1 Reed& Barton creamer that says 1771 1/2 on the bottom.Has a couple little dings or dents and is monogramed but I cant tell what letters.1 copper lustre sugar bowl made in England by Zauk& Harvey that appears to be in nice condition,one salt and pepper set of tea pots that dont say anything but appear quite old, a salt shaker from Japan that has a hallmark and I think may be pewter.A salt with the spoon that says Sheffield RF productions made in England,a hallmark and the number 30120 and another salt that says made in occupied Japan and MS hallmark.Last but not least a spoon that say only sterling on the back.Dont know ... morewhat you can find out from the marking and I probably wont be much help but if you have questions I will try to answer. Up for bids is a nice colonial style sugar/creamer from Reed and Barton called Jamestown 1802.The pre-owned item is in good pre-owned condition.It could use a bit of a shine but I will leave that up to the new owner.The sugar bowl has it's lid which is topped with a pineapple finial.The body of the sugar has two areas that appear scratched(please see picture#6)I'am not sure but this may rub out.There is one small area on the creamer.This does not affect the beauty or function of this graceful looking set.The sugar is about 6" high to the top of the finial.The creamer is 5.5.This is a very nicely done set and a good solid weight.If you have any questions please ask before bidding and I will do my best to answer.Thank you for looking and happy bidding! It is marked and also has the number 4002 and 483 which is also marked on the inside of the lid 483 so that number I am told could have been some kind of inventory number maybe. I am guessing this dates from about 1870-1880 as another piece says the design was Patented in 1869 and is in one of the many Revival style popular at the time. It appears to have tiny Egyptian Revival masks on each of the legs and Renaissance Revival themes elsewhere. The plate is in surprising good shape for its age and I see no plate loss on the outside. There are some stains inside but I could not get in there to try and polish them out. The interior may have been gold washed originally as it has a gold tint to it. The creamer is approx. 6 1/4 inches high and about 4 inches wide. The bottom says"Mfd and plated by Reed& Barton 2425 and Patent Applied For as well at the letters GT. The book American Silver Plate by Dorothy and Ivan Rainwater feature the pattern on page 106 and give credit to the design to George Gill. Patent to Reed and Barton and date of production of 1871. The creamer stands 6.5 inches tall and 6 inches wide from handle to spout. The inside is very clean and usable. The outside features birds in flight holding sprays of wheat. Up for auction is a Victorian tall cream pitcher by Reed and Barton from the 1870's or early 80's. The creamer stands 7.75 inches tall. The inside is clean and usable and there are no monograms or dents. The silver late shows wear on the high areas as can be seen in the pictures. The design is excellent featuring tall stately legs. I am proud to offer this lovely antique creamer up for auction. This is a beautiful antique silver plate creamer with a stamp on the bottom that says"Reed& Barton" 3690. I believe this is the Sierra pattern. It is in very good condition other than it needs a good cleaning but it is in very good condition. Very nice item. I do not know the age only that my mother had it as long as I can remember. If anyone knows anything differently about this item. Reed and Barton Silver Plated Creamer and Sugar Bowl 1795 Winthrop Pattern These antique pieces are in good condition. I don't find any dents or major scratches. There is a bit of scratching which is to be expected on pieces of this age. I haven't don't any polishing or cleaning on these. They come as you see in the pictures so please look over carefully. The Winthrop collection was named for James Winthrop. First governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony. Its basic design is a modification and refinement, a"pear shape" that was popular at the time. The shape of each piece is accented by the flowing lines of the handles, spout and finials. The legs appear to bloom with flowers, and above the ribbed gourd bodies the handles have flowers, leaves, and little pumpkins. Creamer stands about 6 1/2" tall and about 5" from ... moreedge of lip to edge of handle.
