Vintage Gorham Bernard Rice& Sons Silverplated Tray Creamer& Sugar Bowl BRS Description You are bidding on one vintage. Gorham Silverplated Mono-grammed Tray. Creamer and Sugar Bowl 3 piece set. The set is Gorham Bernard Rice and Sons(BRS) The tray is oval shaped and measures approx 10"L x 6"W by maybe 0.25" T(it sits almost flat) The sugar bowl measures 3.5"T x 4"W x 6"L and is stamped Y 409 on the bottom. The creamer measures 4"T x 3"W x 5"L and is stamped Y 410 6oz(see photo) on the bottom. All 3 items are mono-grammed with the following letters appearing on the front of the creamer, sugar bowl as well as the tray. The Mono-grammed letters are engraved in beautifully scripted font: M E D(see photos) This is a beautiful set. And in my opinion the monogrammed letters are a nice touch but ... morestill not so prominent as to take away from the beauty of this set. All 3 items are in excellent condition with no dents, dings or scratches/marks on any of these items. Just black with tarnish, but the quality showed through and we just had to polish it to see how brightly it'd show up. It's just beautiful, and the shape of the bowl is enhanced by the pinecones formed into the sides and top of the bowl. Each pinecone shape rises out of the form of the bowl and is ornamented by the pine branches, boughs and cones. The knob on the top of the lid is a pinecone end sticking straight up. The two handles arch out to the sides, and it's just beautiful. I left one picture on the listing, the last one, with the tarnish intact, so you can see how old it is. Interesting and unique piece by Bernard Rice's Sons. Sometime before the company went out of business in 1958. I think it was a wedding gift to my parents who married in 1940. Research of the mark tells me it's Apollo EPNS. Which is electroplated nickel silver(and apparently doesn't actually contain silver but mimics the look of silver when new) Berry bowl-6" diameter. 2" high. Other pieces are in proportion to bowl. No dents. It has been cleaned but still appears to have tarnish or some other discoloration. sort of a mottled look. Perhaps you know how to clean it better! See photos.
