Up of auction is the antique Quadruple silver-plate Sugar Bowl. It stands 4 in high and is 6 in wide handle to handle. The Handles Have a beautiful repousse design and there is a flower and scrolls ingraved in bowl. Some of the silver-plate has been worn off due to its age and there is one small dent on one side of the bowl. I tried to read the bottom the best I could. Vtg INTERNATIONAL SILVER COMPANY 728 Silverplate Creamer Up for sale is a vintage International Silver Company#728 silverplate creamer. It's 2.75" at its tallest and a tiny bit less that 3.5" at its widest diameter-not counting the handle and spout. There are 3 little dings and some surface wear. It needs polishing and the inside needs cleaning. I purchased this at an estate auction and am uncertain of its age but believe it to be several years old. Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I am able to ship again. BSC Reg hallmark on bottom of these two items. Researching the crest tells me that they are from the Birmingham Silver Company around 1957 period and are silverplated. Tarnishing from age. Colonial Silver Company#1675 Quadruple Plate Creamer and Sugar Bowl This stunning silver plate set will add a touch of class to even a table that is already elegant. Allowing the viewer to imagine what it was like to be one of Mrs. Astor’s 400! The Colonial Silver Company of Portland. Maine. Became successor of the Stevens Co. in 1899 and remained operating until 1943. Both pieces are clearly marked on the bottom as being“quadruple plate” which has been described as: Quadruple silver plate hollowware was some of the highest quality made during the later part of the 19 th century. Within the silversmith and silver manufacturing industry. Items marked“Standard” silver plate indicated that 2 troy ounces of pure silver were used to silver electroplate 144 teaspoons, but“Quadruple” silverplate used 8 troy ounces of silver to plate the same 144 ... morespoons. Research on the internet indicates that term“quadruple” stopped being a state of art term at the beginning of the 1900’s. Making it likely that this piece is at least 100 years old. As a vintage piece and just like a society grande dame. The set shows some minor signs of age, but those are signs of character and history. In that context. I have noted that many of my silver-selling colleagues offer items“in need of polishing. This leaves the buyer in a vulnerable possible as many major flaws cannot be identified until the polishing processing is complete. Particularly since these are older pieces and are certain to show some signs of wear. I make it a point to personally polish every piece I place on sale. Meriden B. Company collectors. Here is a creamer from their silverplate silver plate collection. The shape is classic frontier era. The piece has beaded edge on top. The base is comprised of two rings of the same beaded style. The piece is numbered, has the single scale imprint, has the"MADE AND GUARANTEED BY" IMPRESSION, and of course the U.S.A. imprint. The piece is not banged or dendted so it has it's original shape. It has light handling marks all over as one would expect. But nohing significant enough to mention. The piece has normal oxidation, all of which will come off with silver cleaner. However I never remvie the tarnish, I always leave that up to the buyer.
